There may be good reasons or technical reasons for this but I for one find the orange quests to be sometimes annoying by forcing you to select it twice.
Example: You arrive at an orange quest and select it and it tells you its been added but gives you no standard quest marker on your mini-map. Instead, it will pop another orange dot with the same symbol somewhere on your world map, and you need to hike to that one, and select that one.... before you get the official quest marker.
Confusing for first time players (dont know if previous Far Crys did this) and even a friend of mine who's played for over 40 hours didn't figure it out until I told him today.
If there is a way to improve this by quite frankly allowing us to select it once and thats it. Just a thought to improve gameplay .....cause its definitely a fantastic game.
Probably an attempt to prolong the mission via adding a go find the next part element, but it is a poorish mechanic as it stands. I like the idea of expanding missions via a search element but with just another icon popping up it seems a bit redundant. If the first person you talk to gave you proper physical directions that you then had to interpret and follow including recognising landmarks it might work far better. For a start you could get genuinely lost rather than just confused about which icon is linked to your particular quest.
Right it didn't take me too long to figure out what they did but was shocked when my friend asked me about it after how many hours he had already played. He actually thought he lost those side quests. Did a quick search online and found some blogs and reviews that mentioned the decision to make it work this way.
As HorTyS mentioned it was probably done for context/story elements but I do agree it is a poor icon choice, It took me a good 20 hours before I noticed the very slight difference in the icons. Once you know what they did it is easy enough to figure out, but it is still very slow. You accept the mission at the first location, then you actually have to search through your map to find the second location. They really need to change the icon to something else so that it is apparent where you have to go and easy to acquire on the map.
I'd definitely be happy with simply changing the icon. At this point I guess it doesn't matter too much for me but it would certainly help new players.Originally Posted by jeannaq Go to original post
