Auction house is a really really bad idea. It broke the Diablo 3 item economy completely and was removed from the game rather quickly.
So would the option to trade just anything you have with other players. You need to understand that the main goal in this game (and in Diablo too) is to FIND loot. That's the main incentive to play the game.
If you could just get the gear from an auction house or from other players when ever you want, the game would lose that incentive completely and you would get bored even quicker.
It's not WHAT you can trade, that's the problem. Having it limited to your group and for two hours is fine and the best way to go. BUT it's how you trade it, that's the problem. No loot window invites scamming and abuse into the game.
So people are going Bat ST crazy over something no one has done/hasn't been seen and hasn't been implemented yet into the game.
No one has done it
no one has seen it
But hey lets all have a mental break down over it.
Christ iv'e seen some forums in my 31 years of gaming but this place is taking the lead with it's insanity.
Why do I need to see it in order to know it's a bad design?Originally Posted by Crazy-46 Go to original post
1. I've seen it in Diablo 1 and it was horrible.
2. We know exactly how it will work, because they explained it on stream yesterday and from that we know that it's bad design.
No offense bro, what part of this system is open to interpretation to you? Where are any "tiny details" not clear to you?!Originally Posted by Crazy-46 Go to original post
They said the following on stream yesterday.
You will be able to trade anything you found in a 2 hour time frame with anybody within your group who was there when you found the item. Meaning, we're in a party together and the endboss drops a gun I don't need so I can give it to you. - Great, that's all we need. Anything on top of that would break the loot economy (like auction houses and what not).
Trading will work by you dropping the item on the ground and then anybody in your group can pick it up. Meaning, I throw said gun on the ground and someone else picks it up and steals it. Or, I agree to giving the gun to you, but only if you give me the chestpiece that the boss dropped for you, which you said was great. We both drop the items on the floor and either someone else in the group steals one of them, or maybe one of us lied and the item is actually garbage. - Awful, just awful design. Hasn't worked well in ANY game EVER.
Oh and just for the people who don't know this, and might say, well just make sure nobody else is near you when you want to exchange items, YOU CAN PICK UP ITEMS FROM A DISTANCE! (like 20 or more meters away)
Now a lot of people argue, "yeah well only trade with people you trust" but that's such a stupid arguement to make, because unless it's an actual friend you know personally, you can't trust anybody on the internet. Which means, everybody who plays solo and relies on matchmaking, basically can't use this "trade" feature. Because they can't trust anybody.
People who are afraid of trade are still traumatized by the D3 AH system. When D3 was launching i warned on beta forums that AH trading will fail and the only way to trade should be face to face . The reasons are simple. When you have so many people farming everything eventually drops and gets over farmed. But with face to face trading you can actually be influenced by 10% or even less of all that because you don't have the access to all these people. Unlike AH where all those items are neatly arranged by prices in pages on top of pages of the same sh** in a depressing way that makes you wane die..... you SEE and are influenced by EACH ITEM there because u have direct access to it.Originally Posted by SgtColbert Go to original post
Diablo 2 got it right. It encourages you to FARM WITH open trading because if you drop something worthy BUT not for your build u can trade with someone who had the same happen to him ..... IT encouraged farming even after gearing up because of Build diversity and Item depth + multiple chars.
Might be so yes, but either way I'm fine with what we got now. It's just the way trading is implemented that bothers me.Originally Posted by ramikz23 Go to original post
And also having all out trading would invite china farming into the game.
I can already see the offers going up "HE lvl 31 M1A with Balanced and .... 49.99$"
Current way trading will be implemented i dont think it will encourage to swap items with random people at all. I would only trust my long time friends or those who i played with very long time.
Kinda strange they didnt implement direct trade with group members using same logic as you view other player stats.
