Except that completely undermines the whole "takkar is the first and only beast master" thing...Originally Posted by Winged_Hussar-_ Go to original post
I think I'm one of the few who has little interest in a survivor mode. It's cool to have especially in this type of game but I just don't have the time. I asked a few of my friends and none of them had interest either....mainly because of time constraints and other games in our backlog.
Good that they are adding stuff to this game though, its a great game so I'm happy with the news overall.
As someone who plays with no HUD or minimap on expert mode (and finding it somewhat easy)... Thank You!
I like to look at the map as little a possible and just get "lost" finding locations and events at random as I head in a certain direction. This particular Far Cry title really lends itself to that style of play and is by far the most immersed I've let myself get in a game world. There's just something intrinsically fascinating about experiencing basically a simulation of how we as humans used to live not too long ago in the scope of history. Really fantastic direction you've taken with this title!
Also, thank you for acknowledging the overpopulation of Oros. That was one of my gripes with the game. The other being no holstering of weapons. The animation is there when you walk into the home village. seems like it would be simple to bind that to a key or the weapon selection wheel.
All that being said, here's my wishlist:
1. Co-op. please!
2. More weather... It seems like it should rain and blizzard once in awhile.
3. Slower time scale. Day & night cycle is much too fast.
Again, thank you Devs for such different and interesting game!
Always found the inability to holster your weapon in FC an odd oversight. Glaring inability when seeking to converse out in the game world - shoving your weapon in npc faces. Also the idea that you have increased agility and speed with your weapon put away just makes commonsense. As does the concept that many npcs should be uncomfortable, nervous even angry if confronted by someone with a weapon out.
I agree about the weather too, sometimes a lack of overt weather in Primal reminds me far too much of FC4. Even with a sort of Oros microclimate I expected more variation to set Primal apart from the previous iteration. I kmow from comments online that some people missed the rain in FC4 and so on even though less rain made sense due to the exotic climate.
Time scale made slower, cannot argue with that either. If you do not fast travel it is very easy to almost run through the night to get to a campfire, then to sleep you would be sleeping late in the day. That could slightly mess with plans in a survivor mode even if you want to use the cover of darkness. Imagine sneaking up to an outpost only to suffer a premature dawn.
Coop: I know some folk want this badly - so I hope you get it at some point. Still coop would not even make it onto a list of my - priorities - for Primal at the moment. I would be more intereted in Ubi tweaking, improving and even further expanding the general single player campaign experience first. Some elements in a survivor mode a nice step in that direction and perfectly fitting what the game is as in an exploration of a primitive dangerous time when people would have had to rely on their survival skills.
To me coop remains a sort of - extra - option for those who happen to want to play with friends or others online being of no use whatsoever to those who do not and bought Primal as sold as a single player offline game.
Your other thoughts such as improving the weather, slower time cycle and holstering would enrich the Primal experience for every single player sad fact is that coop only serves those who enjoy cooping. Personally I was very happy to see Ubi concentrating on single player with this game. Multitudes of multiplayer titles out there these days but for a while true singleplayer games seemed almost a dying breed. As I have stated elsewhere I actually stopped buying some titles that claimed to have single player campaigns when in fact those were llittle better than short poor watered down tutorials for a multiplayer mode.
PS To me no HUD naturally means no minimap too as it is all added, somewhat out of sympathy with the primal background, graphical clutter.
PPS Recently been distracted from Primal slightly by the Automatron DLC for Fallout 4 a good example of how a small expansion with some new items and mechanics can really enliven an existing gameworld that has already seen a great deal of play.
I am hoping that Ubi take note of this sort of thing and appreciate that there seems to be a new move in some quarters towards longer term and more ambitious support of titles beyond their initial release. I think this is a great thing as good titles often deserve a little extra love especially after players have had a chance to vigorously play test them and comment.
Another good approach seems existent in Dying Light with the Following to me this is really clever stuff. You can see how they looked at what they did before and how it could be made both a little different and better too. I am positive that the Following will sell more copies of Dying Light. A friend bought DL for me at Christmas but I will admit to being far more interested in the more open out of city concept of the Following than the original. Although I have yet to purchase this expansion as yet it is one I intend to get and play eventually.
My overall point being that expansions especially with open world style games permit developers to look again at their product and go beyond their original concept with the aid and assistance of community opinion.
Sounds like a good addition to make the game a bit more realistic, even if I'm playing with the HUD and have permadeath off. Seemed as though hunting animals for food became pointless after a less than an hour, once you got to your cave and killed a few animals the bag was full. With the crazy predator problem in Oros meat was in great abundance. Maybe now the gathering skill points will be worth more early besides just for village upgrades.
With all the predators some missions were a lot harder to complete, very annoying when doing an escort, fighting off a bunch of Udam, and then a brown bear charges in from the side and takes out two villagers before you can even kill it. Even had them kill quest givers before, which is annoying but would seem strange if they were unkillable. At least now with less animals some things will feel more real as well.
I haven't played without the HUD or anything yet, don't play a lot each day and when I do its mostly as a stress reliever. Maybe later I'll really try to challenge myself. Pretty busy with other things though at the moment.
I cannot believe it!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU UBISOFT FOR ANSWERING THE FANS -- WITH VIGOR!!!
Absolutely fantastic!!! I cannot wait !!
Can I turn off perma death though? Like is it an option? Because I think I would like to play Survivor mode without perma death to begin with -- and then play with..
Finally I get to play Far Cry Primal as I believe it is meant to be played! Survival baby!!!!!
)
I agree with above post also!!
Wish list for things to add,
1) Day and Night cycle to be longer, more akin to FAR CRY 2 or MGSV
2) Holstering weapons - Cmon this could be so easy to assign it to holding the X button? Considering Takkar holsters his weapons when entering the main Village?
3) more weather, rain thunder storms? Again this rain is already in the game with the Owl sequence, so already an asset?
I'm going to assume that eating will replenish life, not affect stamina.Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
What I'd like to see, is food give a health boost: meat gives 1 extra health bar for a while, meat/green leaf gives 2, etc. This would encourage the need to eat, without crippling the player. Gonna take out that outpost? Better do it on a full belly! Then there's no need for a hunger meter.
I'd also like to see Hunter vision require the use of red leaf, and healing and buffs require a combination of leaves, rather than just wrapping a leaf around a piece of meat. It would make gathering more compelling, and force the player to make choices as to what they are going to use their leaves for. Kind of like the crafting system in The Last of Us.
Would be awesome to have a permadeath leaderboard ranked according to xp earned while staying alive, I'd love to compete for high score!
Looking forward to survivor mode as it is though!
Permadeath will be an option. You can play with it or without.Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
Night time has been slightly adjusted as well. Careful, it's even more dangerous to survive at night.Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
