To me PvP in games not solely designed for PvP has been a confusing/silly notion of sorts at best.

I mean, in theory, people are going to want to beef themselves up as much as possible... thus hunt out BiS gear, and over time "cookie-cutter builds" get to be the norm that go around.

So eventually, you have people that are geared out almost identically going against each other to see who's best. When in reality, if they're all geared exactly the same, that would be to say if they strip their characters naked and fought each other, outside of one or the other dying more quickly, it should still be equivalently the same.

Sort of like rock, paper, scissors... if two rocks, or two scissor, or two papers are thrown, then they pretty much cancel each other out... same should hold true for people geared exactly the same.

Ultimately, strip down the gear and just shoot at each other, and could get the same results in something like Quake 2 or any other shooter out there.

I typically game to get away from life's stresses and I enjoy leisurely game play. I like know that I can either pause a game, or go to an area where no npc's are if I need to afk for while but don't want to close the game completely.

I'm also VERY competitive and I find that avoiding competition keeps my temper and blood pressure in check lol.

    This. Exactly this.

Take out gankers, cheaters, the players that had help and exploited to get their gear and make them work as hard as the majority does or at the very least make it somewhat equal in terms.

I can 1-1 all damned day. But when we're doing 1-1 and 3 others join the noob I'm wrecking it just isn't fun anymore.

Also you basically killed the game for every player after yesterday. You let a specific crowd of players abuse fast farming exploits with their friends to get gear that will now take upwards of months even a couple years for any new players or player that didn't exploit to get. Thus effectively giving unskilled morons extremely unfair advantages to those of us that have to earn our way professionally.

Two things for me. One-- I just don't like working hard for something only to lose it to some opportunist (especially in a game that seems poorly balanced like this one) and two (my bigger reason) is griefers. I have no problems with challenging PvP with people fighting on equal terms. However, a lot times you just get people who are there to ruin other people's fun. Over and over again. I can't bring myself to do that. It's why I tend to avoid DZ and PvP altogether. I'll just be happy doing my challenge mode farming.

Although I love how the DZ currently works, I can agree with a lot of these points you guys are making.

    1. Cheaters/Hackers - Like I said earlier, I cant relate because I have not seen any of this on the console version of the game. Ubisoft should address this as soon as possible, as I have experienced this a long time ago playing Socom for PS2 and having people glitch and ruin the online gaming experience for me, which caused me to quit that game. This also cant be fun for the cheater, as it just creates such an unfair advantage that there is no challenge at all...I cant imagine that these types of people stay around for too long.

    2. Losing Exp/Items - This is part of the experience imo. Being able to lose items/exp forced players to play smarter and be more aware of their surroundings. Trust me, things would be A LOT worse if this system was not in place. Also, with the new update, you are losing a lot less experience and dz funds.

    3. Grief - These people suck, and I admit that I have been tempted to do this at some points in the game. The main reason is that running around in a circuit within the dz fighting the same NPCs to sometimes get good items is boring and going rogue adds a very exhilarating experience to the game. Usually people who go rogue are chased throughout the map by all other players, so unless there is a group of the highest level possible in a specific bracket running around killing people, they probably wont last long. A lot of times, if you fight back...you will have a good chance at winning, not all griefers are actually good.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone

I play video games for the story. I was interested in TD from the beginning because the story interested me. PVP doesn't interest me because it doesn't stimulate my mind like a good story does. I have tried PVP many times before and get bored with it quickly. I do not hate the DZ as it does not apply to my play style so I do not enter (that and I do not have a PS+ account).

Other than the FEW players I have seen going rogue repeatedly in attempt to ruin the experience of others (this is something I rarely see, and I am in the dark zone every night).

Thanks in advance for educated, thought out answers...and for spelling ROGUE correctly
As someone above said, PVE doesn't really hack, exploit, or cheat. It also doesn't grief, or spawn camp. Nor does it lag-switch to win.
Another issue is, one that plagues Destiny, is that skill is pretty much secondary to gear. I've seen PVP evolve over time and move away from more skilled towards a place where the best gear or flavour-of-the-month weapon wins. The last is something that plagues Destiny, to the point that weapons have been mercilessly nerfed time after time - whole weapon classes becoming useless in both PVP and PVE because it was conceived as over-powered in PVP.

If The division PVE shotgunners were PVP players, they would already have been nerfed into the ground in Destiny, to the point it might as well be a fart-gun.

    Or as said above -

That is not really skill winning, it is gear.

Im curious to how anyone can say that what happen in DZ is in any way or form PVP.
I have played over 100h of DZ and the opportunity for REAL PVP has come up 2 times. Player walks up to me and asks me "Do you want to PVP?" or the other time a player engaged me from a cross the street, face to face where i had time to react and it became a PVP encounter.

All other "PVP" situations have been pure gank encounters.
What part of 1v.4 or 1v 3 is PVP when the 3-4 players get ALL the advantages.

    1. Get to shoot first (always in the back)
    2. Get to CC first
    3. Have more damage
    4. Have more health
    5. Get to ambush you

Dark Zone is a many things but a PVP area it is not.

OP this thread is wrong. I and i think many others dont hate DZ. This is just wrong way to get attention buddy.
I like how DZ is but i have no thrill going there to fight against cheaters, griefers or full groups who exploited their gear since day one PC easy mode. No thanks.

It has been asked to add some way for PVE'rs activity similar to DZ system. No one hates DZ like you are trying to picture it.
