I have always been one to gravitate towards the PVP portion of games similar to this and I always meet people who cant stand PVP. I have a serious question in what makes PVP so unattractive? I am just looking for the reason why people would prefer the vanilla algorithm based challenge as opposed to the challenge one faces when trying to outwit other real players? Other than the FEW players I have seen going rogue repeatedly in attempt to ruin the experience of others (this is something I rarely see, and I am in the dark zone every night).
Thanks in advance for educated, thought out answers...and for spelling ROGUE correctly![]()
Because other real players hack and cheat and grief,Originally Posted by rodstarrr24 Go to original post
npc's dont,
take those 3 elements out of pvp and i will gladly pit my wits against another player much more chalanging than an ai.
Well in the diffrent mmo's i played i couldnt stand pvp (except for DAoC pre atlantis, the relic raiding was great fun) because unless you were in a premade it was basically every man for himself. No team play. It just make me rage too much.
Here in The Division i think the problem is that you get forced into a pvp area to grind ranks to be able to buy blueprints for various weapons/gear. I dont like it either, but at least in The Division if you run with a group of friends you have the team play, and safety in numbers most of the time. So even if i dont like it, i still do it here but only for ranking up to get the blueprints.
Of course i can only speak for my self. Kudos for the topic.
Crag, thanks for your reply. As far as the hacking and cheating goes, I am on console and haven't seen that yet so I cant relate to the experience you may be having on PC ( I am assuming you are using PC). As far as the grief issue goes, go get revenge on those guys or try to avoid them on the map, there's always going to be people like this...just like there are in real life. The perks actually help a lot in situations where you may be attacked out of the blue, and the shock turret always give you a couple of seconds to get in a position to fight back if you need to.
I would be one that falls into the "Doesn't like PVP". While i don't hate it I would just prefer the option to spend time in the DZ against the higher level NPCs with the best loot. I would prefer that because of physical reasons. I have issues with my hands and I will just admit that due that that I suck at PVP. Rapid movements cause me major issues at times, but I love the game and I do go into the DZ when with a friend. Just giving my reasons for wanting a PVE DZ.
I will say I don't hate the idea of the DZ, just how it was implemented. Other than that pretty much what Crag said. I tend to shy away from PVP because of imbalances, cheats, and sometimes straight hacking. If there was proper balance I'd dip my toes in a bit to see how it was. Today I ran into people camping the entry points killing people as they spawn in, people up high with only ropes to access the area raining sticky bombs down on people, and being killed from behind while I am engaged with multiple NPCs.
The last is the easiest to bear, but it's not fair or fun. That is my main problem with the DZ after the patch. It lacks fun, trying to gear up in zone 1 and 2 and having fully kitted out people come through and kill you isn't my idea of a good time.
How about a 200k dps, 70k health, 20k skill guy with a vector with a 60% chance to crit and almost 200% crit damage. Thats a few rounds into someones head and your done.
Theres no thinking there. There is no balance in this PVP. So yeah.
Im not saying I dont like it, Im just saying its extremely unbalanced.
Add the cheaters in the mix, and what in Gods name would I want to do with this PVP?
My play style in any game is loan Wolf to many idiots on multiplayer games that spoil it for players who want to experience the joy of the game. Being forced to play pvp in order to achieve better gear weopens that are only needed in DZ I would love to play the game like they played it at e3 but majority of people just want to run gun run gun run gun so kind of takes the fun out of the game for me
Personally, I don't hate the idea of PvP at all, I hate the idea that BECAUSE of PvP I'm going to lose EVERYTHING I worked for the past 2-3 hours. If it wasn't for the fact you lose items, xp and money, I would be all over PvP like a fat kid chasing a cake. It would be way more fun. So tbh, PvP is not bad, the losses you get from it is what gets to me.Originally Posted by rodstarrr24 Go to original post
Killing people in order to have the monopoly on hunting spots, prevent others from looting bosses they killed and just have pure, non-profit seeking fun PvP. That would be gold, not PvP in order to steal fat lewts n stuff, just PvP for the sake of PvP.
