I like playing FC alone, that way, I don't have to worry about keeping up with the next player and/or, being competitive. I play the game at my leisure and that's all I want. I got the DLC for FC4 and one of them was just a waste of money for me. Escape from Durgesh. I've not yet finished it because, most of the co-op players just log out when the going gets rough. Either that or, lag is unbearable and/or, they lose connection. By forcing me to play with other people, is a big turn-off to me.

Feel pretty close to the above. So far have had no interest in playing online games because to me other players would spoil the illusion, but I can understand why some people enjoy coop with a friend especially in shooters. I suppose it can be akin to watching a movie with a friend also it probably helps at times to be able to watch each others back. Still I think you would have to be into japes as I am pretty sure far too often gameplay would devolve. Also most coop gameplay I have watched the way the other charcter shows up is often dissonant you see all the glitchy buggy 3rd person character movement and other ingame interactions - in your face - I would not like that very much.

Yeah, I agree. Random co-op players are the biggest problem. No telling where they're from, some could be from Indonedsia (i'm from the usa) for all I know. They just join your game if, you're playing online and it doesn't matter who has the better internet, the lag can be unbearable for the most part. I don't like playing with players that join servers and play with me that have pings existing of 400ms or more. I don't play online games if my ping is more than 150ms at all. I try not to join any with 100ms pings. However, in games like this, you never know who has the higher ping. I don't hold it against them because, people just want to play the game and have fun, no matter who they're playing the game with but, it can be an issue on many occasions.

I tried playing FC3 in co-op a few times but, there's always these CoD, Run & Gun players that just turn me off. Either they're way out in front of me trying to be all that and I'm stuck with defending myself against more than I can handle then, they're in a rut or, needing assistance because, they're running & gunning yet, I'm stuck trying to get to them in order to revive them or, I need help and they're too far away from me. That's why I just play alone most of the time. Not always having voice chat is some of the issue as well.

FC3's coop was garbage though compared to FC4. FC4 had the right idea, make basically the whole open world playable with a partner but disable the SP narrative missions.... Best way to go about it IMO. Wouldn't mind having the option to play (or better yet replay) narrative missions with a partner though...

Would require some missions to be restructured for example I would not want to try to escape the demon guard in that sky prison with the redneck in tow. Imagine if people actually roleplayed when being that guy I imagine you could kiss goodbye to stealth. In fact somehow I imagine that kissing goodbye to stealth would be a feature of coop as I can think of so many ways it could all go horribly wrong. When you play coop HorTyS did it most often degrade into japes and mayhem or is that just my perception from some of the posted utube coop missions I have seen?

Well, I have absolutely no idea what "japes" means, I think something is getting a bit lost in translation there, but the key to a good coop experience is playing with a friend who shares your playstyle. Most of my FC4 coop play was done with a friend who I introduced to FC and we both enjoy stealth, so we'd go about taking outposts over undetected and for the most part no, it didn't always devolve into a balls out firefight unless we made legitimate mistakes. In those cases we'd typically let ourselves be killed in order to try the outpost again...

the key is finding a partner that you know & trust will not act a fool and will take the game with the same degree of seriousness as yourself. Don't get me wrong, we'd have our fun and f#$k about, but when we wanted to we were a stealth force to be reckoned with. We took every outpost and fort undetected eventually....

That I think probably excludes coop with people you do not know a little and can trust to work with you in a particular way so you are mostly discussing a by specific invitation system rather than one that is just open to anyone joining in from a large random pool.

I must admit if I was ever to play coop I would want it to be with people that I felt could work with my style of play and were in the same general sort of mood at that time. As in: if you are feeling more casual knock about or in the mood to be a bit more serious as anyone cen feel frivilous on occasion even though I know that is a bit contradictory to what I was saying earlier. In truth, sometimes i can be a bit contradictory because problematically I think life in general is complicated and messy and not just fixed one way or the other.

People have gotten a bit frustrated with me at times because on occasion I can hold two seemingly contradictory statements to be equally true within certain contexts whilst they think it ought to be just one way or the other.

coop is always more fun playing with someone who is like minded for the most part. Admittedly the few times i joined or was joined by randoms it was not a great experience...

Sometimes I think some threads on this forum could do with being split or shifted into other threads by the moderators as they rather naturally birth new threads or veer into other topics for example here the discussion about coop. As we are rather veering off the original post about whether or not it would be cool to create your own character. Sadly the way my scatty mind works I find strictly staying on any topic in a utterly liner fashion a bit problematic as one matter almost always seeds some thoughts about another issue.

Also i feel like it was pretty clear that creating a character in a FC game would be rather pointless and honestly more of a hindrance than benefit...
