feedback- A chance to BE a created character in far cry ?

[I]Hey guys, you all did a great job with this game/ i was just wondering why players can't create their own character in this series/ Other company's like bioware, and bethesda have proven that the main character can STILL have dialogue, while being either a male, or female, main character. This series is known to revolve around the setting, and freedom to explore in the eyes of the hero/ BUT not every one, wants to be a male, or play as a certain character, PLUS, many women feel left out of this series. Other ubisoft games come with a character creation kit/ Let fans play as who they want to be.

Hey studster87 and welcome to the forums.

We have a deep and varied cast of characters, including several prominent women. From a creative standpoint, we wanted to tell Takkar’s story.

Thanks for for your suggestion about being able to create your own character. It's been passed onto the development team!

    Thanks again!

I really don't see the point. I think stories in games generally are better when based around a specific character.... FC being a first person game especially relegates such a feature to the pointless & unnecessary category...

I agree. This is what Primal was all about.

takkar is fictional, therefor open to creativity

Since the entire game is 1st person, no one playing can actually see takkar's actions outside of his view, so what would it matter if someone like me wanted to play as takkar without having a beard on his face, or if my friend wanted to play as a female, hearing a women's grunts or voice dialogue / the entire story could still be the same, with a different look for the lead role, and still wouldn't effect the narrative.

Women are inferior when it comes to brute strength and in 10,000BCE, women were not looked up to as true warriors. The role of the main character is exactly what's the game is about.

Fighting is not always about brute strength sometimes speed and agility can top that asset, also tell some of that stuff to the Izila in particular who seem to have some very scary women and expect to be burned down instantly in flames.

Note there is some inferences that in antiquity women had a very important role in society even being worshipped note the Earth Mother statue that was held in both reverence and dread by the Udam in game and with good reasons. Nature is often personified as female and nature can be violent, cruel and utterly unforgiving I imagine it is not just about the womb etc being the wellspring of life. Also I have heard - though I cannot claim it is a fact - that women often have a higher tolerance to pain than men do, due to being psychologically designed to go through the agonies of childbirth. Could be female propaganda but I can imagine that one cannot be exactly loads of fun - I can imagine trying to pass a melon - ouch!

PS On topic if they did have a female character option - and here I say option not just an overall change of gender which goes too far in the opposite direction - it might indeed help to encourage more females to play these games thus selling more copies. To be honest I think Takkar is the best player character they have had In FC so far as the others I found a bit too weak in their mannerisms, (with the exception of Jack Carver), too oblidging when they ought to have been a bit more questioning and distrustful and so on. Also I would rather play as someone other than an American all the time partly because of the oversaturation of American culture within Europe. I mean we watch so many American films and so on in the UK that sometimes it feels as if - culturally - we are the 51st state.

Takkar didn't really question anything either though, he basically does what anyone at the village asks him to do no questions asked...

"hey takkar, drink this rat blood & eyeball soup. "
    "gulp"

I will say that in the "dream far cry 5" idea i have in my mind, the playable character I've purposefully left devoid of heritage as it really is something that could be filled by someone of any ethnicity. In my mind you assume the role of a photojournalist who gets caught up in crazy situation, so that journalist could very easily be someone from the UK or something doing a story for a london newspaper or the like...

I don´t need any character creation in FC games. I like Far Cry 2´s solution most, just choose yours between several different characters.

It was kinda cool how whoever you chose just got removed from the "pool" of possible buddies, but the buddy system in general seemed sort of thrown in last minute as far as how you meet and find them. I also thought they way you make one your "best buddy" or the one who would come to your aid/ give you missions was a bit limited in how you get them to that status. Would've been cooler if they all had missions to give you and such... Oh man, imagine FC5, set back in africa, but now the buddy in the game is a coop partner... sheesh... Ubi, this needs to happen...
