Some features I'd like to see added concerning gestion of tamed beasts

    Dear Ubisoft developers,
At first I would like to thank you for the amazing game that far cry primal is. Seriously, this game was an incredibly ballsy bet and you nailed it all the way. I truly enjoy it and can't thank you enough for the hours of pleasure I've had so far with it and will still have !
However, here are some suggestions about the gameplay I've thought, which I believe could really improve the user experience in terms of immersion. They concern the tamed beast gestion :
    - I believe taming a beast should require a bit more than just holding the square button for a few seconds. It should try to attack you, you'd have to avoid its attacks, it should be a bit harder to reach it, just like a dance between the beast and you.
    - Once tamed, there should be a "trust" bar for each beasts that has an effect on the beast loyalty to you. Pet it, playing with it would increase the bound, but accidentally shooting it with an arrow or letting it be attacked by another beast or even let it die would decrease the bound. And the higher the "trust" bar, the more options you have with it (ride it, better protection, better response to commands, etc...)
    - It would be nice if there were mini games you could play with your beast to seal the bound, like "go get the stick", hunting with it, or else, but the idea would be that we're have more options than just pet it.
    - And just another detail, when you sleep it would be fun to have your beast waking you up by licking your face or cuddling.
Since taming beasts is a big part of this game, I believe that the experience should be more detailed concerning the bound between you and every tamed beasts, that's why I wanted to give you those suggestions.
    Regard,
    Tilulu73.

Although I agree with your ideas and suggestions, I think that there are other parts of the game which have to be "fixed" first. The overwhelming amount of enemies for example.

I agree, my suggestions are not on top of their "to do" list, the game is still pretty young and many glitches or adjustments have yet to be done. I just wanted to give my opinion after experiencing the game a little bit, which gave me the feeling that the bound you create with beasts lacks of realism.

But Ubisoft never intended for players to view the beasts as pets. They're temporary allies.
I personally like how they kept such bonding nonsense to a minimum.

You need help? Summon this wolf to help you out. After that he can piss off for all I care.

I'm glad the actual "bonding" goes no further than a simple pet animation. That's just my personal opinion though.

    Maybe they domesticated us

It is good in a way that whilst they are tame to you as the Beastmaster they are still very much wild animals at heart. I have been attacked by my pets more than once due to accidentally hurting them. I have become adept at taming them again before they rip my throat out. Making the initial taming process a bit more involved would have been nice too. Maybe you should always have to fend them off a bit at first - just to earn their respect - especially with the bigger predators. Although many animals are very cunning and not behind doing what needs to be done to grab a free meal. Take the domestic house cat I am not sure whether we domesticated that one or it cunningly domesticated us. I mean generally speaking they do as they please while their owners provide them with every worldly comfort. It is not a dogs life my friends it is a cats.

    A few more suggestions...

Playing with your tamed beast is good and all, glad they gave us that ability. Currently a few things need some attention...

    - Healing your beast: Any way to turn off the various animations? A couple of them are quick, taking only 1-2 seconds. Others aren't short at all, and make it very risky to try and heal your pet in a combat situation. Nothing like feeding and playing with your pet while some enemy is trying to skewer you with a spear or pound you into the dirt like a nail in a board. Maybe a better solution in the meantime would be to only allow the short "toss meat on ground" animation to play while hostiles are near.

    - Healing suggestion #2: Certain pets seem to have to be in a perfect position for you to have the heal option come up, seems the saber teeth are the worst. I have found that the sweet spot of the option to come up is very small, and wonder if it somehow got this way once you have learned the ride skill?

    - Saber tooth tigers and searching a kill. Nothing like hopping on the back of your tiger while trying to search a kill, sometimes it does both actions but more often than not just climbs on. Would be nice in a way to have to focus on the tiger to climb on rather than the corpse on the ground. Currently you have to send them to a location further away to avoid this.

    - Better commands. It is easy to send beast to attack, also nice being able to send them to a location and have them stay, but what about a "heel" command to keep them from running off and trying to take out the whole outpost? Doesn't happen all the time but when it does they won't last long and when recalled bring back friends. Also getting one to come back often involves spamming the recall button multiple times when they are in a bunch of hostiles. Would be nice to have a few others as well, perhaps using a menu similar to the weapon wheel? (Easier to do on the PC version with more buttons, not sure if consoles have enough spare buttons?)

    Sometimes I despair.

Why anyone in FC would want to take away animations - to make the players life even easier - amazes me. Why play a game with any tactics at all if everything costs nothing requires no thought and is instantaneous: instant heals, instant roloading, instant kills, instant crafting might as well have an instant 'I win button' lets go to the game over credits.

I do not get it you need things to take time on occasion so you have to make a judgement call, you need some level of difficulty and realism or it is all just stupid. Those animations add a bit of immersion in an already getting far too gamish franchise. I will agree there are issues with the detection boxes with companion animals if the beast is on any kind of mild incline for a start it often will not work that is a simple game play bug that needs patched.

Searching and harvesting from ontop your beast in my opinion should not work at all or at least be more awkward than doing so dismounted. Sure you could snatch a dropped club or spear but searching someone on the ground properly taking arrows out of quivers or herbs from a pouch I do not think so. I am actially disappointed with the less well done search animation in Primal compared to FC4, it looks more like you are being a bit weird with corpses rather than actually looking for anything - probably one of the poorest animations in the whole game.

Fine I know this is a tongue in cheek game but please it needs some grounding or you might as well be playing something along the lines of pacman.

Trying to heal your pet and getting locked into an animation for 5+ seconds playing with your beast isn't realistic at all when in combat... Flipping the chunk of meat towards the beast and it either catching it or quick grabbing it off the ground would be however. Still takes it a couple seconds to eat, so not instant, which is fine, just not the beast playing part. If the extended animations play when combat is finished and no threats are around then fine. At least some animations are optional, along with other HUD options. Just because someone loves animations doesn't mean everyone else will.

Not sure if you read my one point and got what I was getting at, I'm standing on the ground, staring at the corpse, hit the button to search, and instead end up climbing onto my saber tooth tiger standing next to me that I'm not even looking at. The interact button even said "search", so why it glitches and I climb on the tiger doesn't make much sense. Haven't even tried looting stuff while mounted even though it is apparently possible.

    Sorry some errors in communication.

Sorry I thought you just meant removing some animations in general, not the issue of petting - playing - at the wrong time and so on. Petting / playing when you want to heal is stiupid and it would have been better if the pet and heal buttons were not the same. Removing animations however does not seem the best answer to other issues just having the appropriate functions animations working at the appropriate time - I can fully agree with that fact - my contextual mistake.

As to the mounted thing just mentioned that because it has been brought up and it seems somewhat impossible to me to do somethings from the back of a bear or sabretooth. To me riding should be primarily about better mobility as in faster travel but it should make in game sense to dismount when interacting with some objects particularly objects flat to the ground.

Just leapt on some of these things before and here because of various calls to remove this animation or that animation in general often surprises me since they are one of the few things that occasionally help to ground the gameplay by adding a time element to functions - a time element that seems to be disappearing in too many instances - such as the instant crafting of weapons in more or less the middle of combat to me that cheapens crafting rather than making it better.

If there is no need to go to a campfire or a settlement as a sort of crafting station - if you can just do everything on the hoof - this reduces the need and incentive to travel reducing any requirement to plan and to think. Indeed instant crafting negates inventory limits to some extent too, Here I am talking to everyone who thinks that such streamlining of mechanics is an improvement because of the ease provided, debating that ease of use may not mean more fun gameplay. Sometimes less is not more sometimes it just makes gameplay a little too easy and therefore risks it becoming boring. Naturally there has to be a balance and it would not be good to go too far in the other direction. Sadly imo at the moment FC seems too focused on providing the most simplistic streamlined solution to doing many things in game. For example an arrow crafting system that only uses wood even though the arrows you employ obviously have arrowheads attached and feathered flights too...

Sorry if you thought - all - of my comments were aimed just at you I am just chucking some stuff out in general debate too because to me animations also link into the time it takes to do actions and to me are part of playing in game tactically.

    No worries...

And the last patch did help with being able to heal pet, the box to interact with must have been very small on a saber tooth. Also doesn't try to jump on the tiger while searching all the time either. At least I can be standing behind or beside the kitty and be able to have the heal button come up now, before it was only a small spot in front.
