So I get two enemies rush me... They spawned in so close I had no chance. I took out the one enemy and hit Y twice to go to my sidearm, expecting my pistol to come out.... and instead out comes my secondary bold action sniper rifle (which is useless in CQC). I hit Y twice again. NOTHING HAPPENED. Hit Y twice again thinking I must have done it too fast and once again... NO FREAKIN SIDEARM... and shotgun to my face and I'm dead.
I'm sorry but using a control just for stupid greet animations when it would be MILES better used as a secondary weapon button is beyond me. The number of times the game chooses the wrong gun is beyond me. I would rather a single button for primary, secondary and sidearm because when you have bullet sponge enemies, only so many rounds in a mag and having them spawn in at STUPIDLY close ranges at times is really bad for the blood pressure.
Love the game but some of the design decisions and the glitchy/laggy controls make me want to pound my controller into the ground.
Oh and I think it's sending my agent a bit schizo too... https://account.xbox.com/en-us/gamec...9-5f12046dcb16
Here is an example of stupid spawning ranges... and laggy controls (when they appeared I tried to make my guy run away... and it took ages to realise that I didn't mean jog backwards gently).

the control scheme was the primary reason for my switch from the PS4 to the PC. I played the closed beta and i was like how in the world can I swap this properly in a firefight...Originally Posted by NeoMorph WTH Go to original post
played the open beta on the PC and everything went smoothly.
Honestly, it should have been button for primary and button for sidearm, HOLD to switch to secondary.
If I remember correctly, this is how it was in the alpha. Press for sidearm and HOLD for secondary. I got used to the new double tap in the closed and open beta, but the more I think about it, the more I like the old setup. I do not really have an issues with witching to the sidearm with double tap, but I prefer the single tap. I'd rather tap once to finish off an NPC instead of double-tapping and fearing my sniper rifle would come out.Originally Posted by RyuNoKami Go to original post
That sounds like a much better arrangement. Usually switching to secondary is a low priority (or at most medium). When you run out of ammo, switching to sidearm should be classed as HIGH priority. You want it to be as quick as possible and not have the possibility of the game misreading your second press of the Y and giving your the wrong gun.
When those rushers are coming at you after you have spent most of your rounds on another target, you NEED that sidearm fast.
