    Help for a real rookie

I am a long time PC user and finding some more time on my hands, am getting into ARPG gaming which I find really enjoyable.

I have long been a flight simulation and auto racing simulation/ game fan and only ever used the associated hardware (Yoke, Peddles, Wheel, etc) for those genres. Needless to say, I have never even picked up a Xbox/ps4 controller before, much less use one and the only RPGs type game I have played is the Mass Effect series which is keyboard controlled and very different from The Division which for me, is even harder on keyboard.

This puts me in the absolutely rawest of recruits category in this or any other good ARPG game and as far as multiplayer goes, I wouldn't want me on my squad. So here I am in the middle of this rats nest, solo and learning as I go along and looking for any advice that will at least give me a more level playing field.

I have two areas of gameplay hurting me badly, one which I hope will just improve with practice is the Xbox controller which I often find myself panicked into hitting the wrong button in close combat, fast decision situations. For instance hitting the "B" instead of the "A", thus ending up standing on the hood of a car in front of a Cleaner with a flamethrower rather than under the cover of the front fender. I know this must sound funny or even stupid to a lot of you seasoned ARPG'ers, but we all have to start somewhere. The other area is just plain lack of strategy knowledge.

I know some people would ask why I would jump into a game like this as a total novice, but for me it is a total waste of my hard earned money to buy a game that I don't want just for practice if I am just going throw it away when I think I can handle the division and still end up where I was when I bought this game which, regardless of my aforementioned problems, am really enjoying the division and I am at present at level 10.

So the point of my post is to beg any advice from you vets out there which would be much appreciated. My biggest problem right now is that flamethrower boss in the subway morgue. I tried that mission at level 8 and just got B B Q'd by that level 6'er every time before exiting the gamme to get out of the mission.

    Thanks in advance.

Survival tips from me would be..

    1 stay in cover
2 make sure you are geared up correctly to have the most health/damage possible
3 definitely learn the controls and enemy patterns
4 take your time with enemies and overall enjoy yourself
5 keep yourself reloaded on all weapons so you can switch when need be and be ready to shoot

That's what comes to mind, I'm sure you'll figure it out.
