Hi there. Game runs really well in terms of performance. A few bugs though:
System:
Core i5-2500k
GTX 760
Windows 10 64bit.
I average 40-50fps normally but whenever I use the ingame map the framerate drops to 7-10 accompanied by the Memory Controller Load dropping to 0/1% (seen with GPU-Z).
This occurs almost every time I open the map. It occurs less frequently in the game world, where the framerate will drop from 40-50 to 25-30. The gameworld framerate drops don't seem to start until I've been playing for at least 15 minutes, but the map screen drops can happen immediately after starting the game.
I've tested both 361.91 & 362 drivers. There is no discernible difference in performance or these bugs between the drivers.
Cheers
Tom
had the same problem on my GTX 960
only way i found to fix it was to lower my graphics settings all to Normal
was fine when i first started the game running with all settings on High ..i got about 4 hours in and then that map bug hit me
stutters like no tomorrow
once i set the graphics settings down the next time i started the game .. the problem went away played for 4 hours last night ..and about 3 today
i'm still running Nvidia driver 359.06 since the last tested driver in the read me files is even older then that
if ya open the Primal \ support \ READ ME folder it says
Supported Video Cards at Time of Release: AMD Radeon™ HD 5770 (1 GB VRAM) or better, HD 7000 / 200 / 300 / Fury X series, NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460 (1 GB VRAM) or better, GTX 500 / 600 / 700 / 900 / TITAN series
Note: Laptop versions of these cards may work but are NOT officially supported.
Latest GeForce drivers tested: Nvidia GeForce 358.91 WHQL <---------------- last driver tested was from November 2015
Latest Radeon drivers tested: AMD Catalyst 14.4 WHQL
and most of the newer drivers from Nvidia i was seeing frame drops in other games as in lower frame rates with Far Cry 3 and 4 as well as some of the older games i play... anything past 361.75 was a mess on my Windows 10 pro and keeps installing Nvidia backend even if i do not install Nvidia geforce experience
Thanks for the tip. That did indeed work, though I found I could turn everything back up again and just leave Textures on normal instead of High. Might just be a coincedence but that's what's working for me at the moment. No more map silliness.
Game still definitely needs a patch though. Takes 2 minutes to quit, pet AI is a bit crazy, can't feed them sometimes etc. Relatively minor stuff.
EXACT same issue here, glad I'm not alone. Running it on a GTX 770. Not only does this happen to the map, but cutscenes behave similarly I've noticed once the map issue starts. I was thinking it was an issue on my end, but apparently not. Sounds like a memory leak that becomes more pronounced with higher settings, and lowering the settings just a bit to normal sort of mitigates it. It's a shame, because it'll run fairly smooth for me on very high and it's playable on ultra, but in no time what you described will happen.
