Dont get me wrong, i love the game, never been so hyped for a new ip to come out, im gona play the crap out of this game with my gaming buddies.
Nothing really bothers me about the game, love all the systems, it has the potential to be the best game ever for me, a mix of Diablo 3 loot system, with Mass effect gameplay, on a real life setting.
But one thing is messing me up, and it has to do with today s gaming market bulls***. That is how they re handling exclusivity for xbox, apparently, they get 2 out of the 3 paid expansions 30 days early.
Now, i dont mind these exclusivity deals to much if they re handled well, allthough i think they are total bs and the gamers, their clients, always suffer for it.
So, the fact xbox gets major expansions 30 days early means when that content hits ps4 it will not feel fresh and new anymore. Ppl will already know what the expansion has to offer, what new items, best strategies for the new content and all the ins and outs of the expansion and that takes away from the longevity of the dlc and from the fun of it, the most important part as we seem to forget.
I woudl have prefered exclusivity on a couple of missions, a couple of weapons and a couple of cosmetic items for 1 year or more, than exclusivity on major expansions for 30 days.
The main issue i ve is the kind of content offered in exclusivity deals. Small in game stuff like a couple missions/items is ok, but full on expansions is not. No matter the time frame. That s the main point of this post.
I think exclusivity shoudl be for a couple of weapons, some cosmetic stuff, in game items, maybe a couple of missions but not entire major expansions, that s just wrong imo. That was one thing Destiny did well imo, as bad as exclusivity is, the best case scenario while still fulfilling those bs contracts is the way Destiny handled it.
Tldr: 30 day exclusivity on major expansions ruins longevity and fun of said content for others. There s other ways to handle exclusivity that are not as harmuful for ppl who get the worst of it.
Eddit 1: Maybe if we get enough attention to this matter we might change things, so bump it up if you agree.
Honestly I would agree with you but its only 30 days man. That is nothing. Destiny had content out for PS4 a year in advance of xbox. a Whole year man. That is nuts. But 30 days is nothing. xbox will get all their content and it will be buggy. they will take 3 weeks to take bugs and start to patch them. Then we are handed the nice new bug free version. I am not bothered by this at all. Also im sure you will find most people here are not bothered by it. Its all about money. Money is what makes these games happen and businesses like Ubisoft still running. So if Microsoft wants to give them a crap ton of money to get the littlest of exclusivity. Then so be it. Doesnt bother me at all.
I feel your pain, but this is how money changes hands these days. But all in all, I am not pretty bothered if others play that content before me, as I like to play MY game and not through others' experiences, it has to be first hand for me. No matter how many videos I watch or guides I read, the moment I get to play it, it's another thing. It's my story, my experience, my gameplay. Don't let others play YOUR game, mate. When you are in control, it's your moment, not some random dude on YouTube.Originally Posted by Vampz84 Go to original post
oh please....xbox one owners had to wait a year for destiny and your mad about a month.. Sony has been spending money left and right to own all in game exclusives since the new consoles have been out. I agree its all BS but we cant have it both ways. Having to wait a year for any kind of content is insane.
Yes, but in destiny case the content offered for one year exclusivity was much less impactfull than a full expansion. Imagine of ps4 or xbox got the taken king expansion 30 days early.
I woudl not mind exclusivity for life for some items/missions, but i do mind full expansions for 1 month.
I do know that s how the industry works nowadays but it shoudl be handled correctly.
I'm with you OP.
While I'm not bothered (read: don't care) too much cause it's only DLC's and I'm not buying season pass anyway I stand with you against this BS!
I was very hyped for new Tomb Raider, I really liked the previous one and when I found out that they pushing back PC release because of consoles exclusivity I just thought screw this!!
If they don't want my money then I'll wait for some GOTY release and buy it for 5GBP on steam next year.
I plan to do the same with Division "expansions". I played both betas so I know roughly what to expect. I wait for release and then probably buy the game then wait and see what people say about "expansions". If any good I'll pick it up on some sale or something.
Add me to the not bothered/don't really care list. Though I do think that it would be nice if all games were either released at the same time or were exclusive to a platform (which I don't think we will see too much of except the signature games or PC only). This seems like it is just becoming the standard though for a lot of the games. It has been said it mostly has to do with the money.
