With the introduction of dynamic weather and the new graphics engine, visibility has become very bad sometimes.
Maybe there is too much "realism" now regarding to darkness and brightness. IMO the difference between dark and bright is too big. Over brightness in some places at daytime, and pitch black at night during bad weather. On some B-roads you can not even see the road if there is no bad weather. Way too dark.
This has to change. The new features are cool and make the game more complete, but the exaggerated difference between day and night is ruining game play for many.
Especially those who play on smaller screens can not see a thing when the game is dark.
Some balancing needs to be done. Maybe 15% less bright on the brightest day spots and 15% less dark during bad weather darkness.
Also with low sun visibility is very poor. Most people wear sunglasses. Maybe some "polarization" effect can be added to increase visibility.
Gaming should be fun. Driving completely blind at night is highly unrealistic and no fun at all.
In addition to that the headlights do not reflect enough or not far enough to match the increased darkness of the game. And some cars still have bad lights and can barely be seen.
Reflection of road side objects, rocks and other cars needs to be beefed up as well.
Sometimes the logic baffles me, as turning of cars in the air is unrealistic and stupid, but these overdone weather and lighting models add maybe way too much "realism" on the other hand.
I am probably one of the few that doesn't mind the realism here. I love the blinding light you get when leaving a tunnel and the feeling of flying down a road at night barely able to see giving the sensation you are out running your headlights. Still I get why many can be annoyed by this. The game should offer headlight up grades especially for raid and dirt. These should make a noticeable difference by which you equip. Also would be cool to give players to turn on and off their lights when they want to. Would be awesome to do 180 down the highway at night with no lights at all!
I do like to have some contrast between dark and light of course. But current settings are almost unplayable at times.
Also the exaggerated darkening and blinding effects when entering or exiting tunnels are ridiculous.
Everything needs to be toned down a notch or two.
Being able to switch on headlights manually, or high beam would be awesome indeed.
The light batteries on Dirt and Raid are more cosmetic now. If they would work properly a lot of the poor light would disappear already. Good point.
And yes, there have been threads about the game being too dark before. But obviously not much has been done with it.
This dedicated thread is supposed to bring some light in the darkness at Ivory Tower.![]()
Disagree. I'm against making everything for racing. As Natchai said, it's not only a racing, but driving game. Night too dark? Just look at the sky before going to bed, it isn't. Harder to drive at night? And that's how it should be. Better headlights is the only good solution. Soon we'll see people saying mist is too misty, rain too wet etc. Yes for realism. I like to cruise around, feel the atmosphere of night, mist, sunshine, simply driving. I don't need to go 300km/h+ all the time and constantly see everything in front.
Please, don't make everything for racers, cruising folks also wanna have fun.
at night is use "nightvision" (setting brightness fully right) and even with that it realy feels like nightdriving
+1 on all Mads remarks
and i wanna ad traffic should be made way move visible to
it feels like they're purposly made this hard to see, during a sunny daytime with still wet roads its just about impossible to see oncoming traffic
in freedrive races, this is for me by far the main reason i crash
speaking of crashes: in regular freedriving ya now get the slomo crashcam way to soon
