So, as the title says, Is the series dead and buried?
Been waiting for news forever on this series.

Maybe they do make something in the future, but unfortunately there are no words from Ubisoft about this. For now, I believe, the best would be to chill with those Settlers games we have, and if they decide to make something - that would be great. Even if they come tomorrow and say "we're making a new Settlers game" that wouldn't be done until one year at best.

For me those Settlers games we have are quite good, though I spend more time with Stronghold. Maybe you could give a chance to Stronghold 2 by the way. It has interesting economy, you have estates there, so you conquer villages to grow stronger and to defeat your opponents. Also, there are lots of great maps which can be downloaded - even way better then the original ones.

Kindoms of Anteria no longer exists is communicated HERE on 21 APRL 2016 . I have the feeling they convert the remaining parts to a Hero based RPG.

The following quote on the same page seems to indicate they are not ruling out a new classic Settlers game but can also refer to most of the old games still actively being played.

Nothing can compare to a good Settlers game though. Maybe the nostalgia factor playing its tricks on me, since I can fondly remember playing Settlers 2 when I was a child in windows dos. Who knows. Here’s for hopping for news on a new Settlers game soon. Cheers.
