Adding Kill cams in ranked compromises tactical gameplay and here is why
By adding kill cam, you are trying to help address the cheating issue apparently going on in ranked matches. I see your point, but allowing players to simply report for suspicious activity and have the people at UBI review the footage to see if there was in fact cheating will surely meet the same goal as implementing a kill cam. You can use CS GO as an example where players are able to report others for a number of things, one of which is hacking/cheating/etc.
By adding kill cam, you have actually compromised the tactical advantage squad based teams had previously. For example, say you and two others are proceeding down a hallway and one of you (positioned all the way in the back) kills an enemy player on the far stair case at the end of the hall. That player will now be able to view how many players are in that hallway and their positions (that's if the moment before the kill, the attacking player was looking at their teammates), thus, compromising the element of surprise for those other two players. Kill cams are meant for casual style play to learn and adapt to enemy maneuvers and understand where they are aiming. It has no place in ranked matches. I just do not see the reason. The aforementioned will cure the cheating issue just as well, if not better than putting a kill cam in ranked.
I am not sure if this is legitimately implemented to help catch cheaters or is actually trying to make ranked more friendly to players who are just not skilled yet to do better than average in a match. It is a shame you have made the ranked experience almost identical to the casual experience. I was hoping ranked would be left alone, but i guess not. I surely will not be returning as frequently to play R6 anymore precisely because I enjoy a challenge and do not wish to be held by hand (letting me see where my attackers are killing me from). It takes away from immersion and it ruins my experience as a hardcore fan and player of your game. But for those who agree with this implementation and i am sure there are a lot of you, more power to you.
PS. Sorry I posted in another sub forum accidentally. Did not see this "Feedback" forum which is actually where my post should have been.
Yep. Devs are far too often weak to 'complainers' because people who are happy with it do not complain (or sometimes do not even come on these forums) so if the only voices they hear are complainers, they assume that everyone feels that way. They need to have the balls to know what is right and what is wrong.
When i saw killcams in ranked i was like ' well that was never something i felt this game needed'. I would love to see how/from where people killed me in ranked but it is unfair for me to do so, especially when communicating with my squad through party chat and giving them intel from beyond the grave..
REMOVE RANKED KILLCAMS. Ignore the irrational hordes, they'll always complain.
Easiest compromise is to just keep it - but modify it so that kill cams are displayed at the end of each round (rather than the 'final kill' cam we have now.)
If that can't happen, keep the kill cams because the only way I can ever tell if someone is hacking in casual is with them, Ranked it would be impossible without.
Just like stated several times before, on other threads about this subject, the kill cam doesn't give any "hiding spot" information that the picture doesn't already give. The objects, walls, and everything are different enough that most people know where they exact spot you are hiding once they see the picture of the person who killed them. As for the other statement of knowing how many people are where... For the most part, good players aren't going to spend a lot of time looking at the backside of their teammate. Their job is to cover that direction. The player in the back has the job of covering the flank. That is the direction their view should be facing anyway.
The only real difference the kill cam makes is that it allows us to see the player tracking us through walls and such.
