Knowing the way Microsoft used to work with publishing content in the marketplace, my keen observations of the modding community at the time, and the sense that we console users in the GRAW space were missing some new content - I pitched the idea to several comdevs of introducing a mechanism to allow the community to design and distribute new content through some form of publishing portal provided by Ubisoft.
If the major platforms have suitably accommodating distribution mechanisms, I'm wondering if (after launch) this is something that could be accommodated for Wildlands?
To me, this seems like a potential win-win for Ubisoft. There could be a small charge for Ubisoft to provide access to the appropriate tools, an appropriate and proportional charge for the content to end users but more importantly a mechanism to give content makers revenue (with Ubisoft retaining a small percentage for validation and verification).
More importantly it gives us, the gamers, access to more content for our favourite game long after the devs have been moved on to the new projects.
It would be awesome if something like that happened! Good idea VorTechS!
Even if it is on a small scale like the map-editor in the Far Cry games. But seing that Ubisoft ditched the map-editor + multiplayer in FC Primal, makes me think they might not go for that again. It is a shame really.. 'cause in Far Cry 2 the map-editor and its capabilities was almost perfect.. and there was a thriving community of map makers that helped keeping the multiplayer scene alive till Far Cry 3 came out.
A map-editor, or a mission editor for a game like Wildlands would be awesome for sure.
