    Recycling

Ubi did alot more of it than just re-using animations that've been in place since FC3...

Just another to a list of reasons why this game prolly should've been $40 or so rather than a full priced game... Although, I bought it so I guess I'm part of the problem as well... ;/

The thing is though, they missed out on great potential here.

They could've created an entirely different geographic location from scratch and no one would complain.
However, by basing the land of Oros off Kyrat from Far Cry 4, they had the option to include all kind of references like structures that exist in both games. They didn't do anything like that. It's a missed opportunity and "recycling" the landscape from Far Cry 4 really doesn't even make it that much easier because they had to redo practically all of the terrain.

The only similarity here is the heightmap they used, not the actual detail on the terrain. Slopes, rocks, structures, vegetation... it's all completely different.
In other words, using Far Cry 4's Kyrat as a template for Oros really doesn't save that much development time so it all comes down to being a silly reference. A nice link between the two games.
(Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon's landscape was the exact same as Far Cry 3's south island, an example of when Ubisoft did take the lazy approach.)

It's almost like Ubisoft wanted to receive more hate with this. People assume that using a similar landscape means that developing the world was a lot easier, but I doubt it was. But by not adding any deliberate links or references between the two games, the only thing people will see is copy-pasted geography and they'll accuse Ubisoft of the same recycling as always.
    It's a missed opportunity.

    Another bit of empty criticism

Part of a seeming culture of stupid critique that actually has nothing to do with the game as players experience it, also as stated clickbait - nice term.

I'm really just posting the news, not really super upset about it in anyway, it makes alot of sense to me actually that they'd do this, and makes sense how they got the game made so quickly. The re-use of the basic geography of the map doesn't bother me at all, I'm actually more annoyed they're not doing more in terms of new and unique animation. I'm glad they finally had to change the takedown animations (for the most part) but they're still using animations that have been in place since FC3. My wish is that whatever the next far cry game is, it has NO re-used animations from the player character's perspective...
