Just a "quick" thought about the new bike.
When the agent came out, it was sponsored by MI5 film coming in the cinemas. At that time I was already worried about the possibility of further in-game advertising and I told that was the start of a very bad trend.
The bike was advertised (and it really is) as the fastest bike in the game (max speed).
The time passed and we all almost forgot about that and now here we are with a new sponsor.
Probably they had a negative feedback about last sponsor because it wasn't very related with the game so this is the plan B.
New sponsor, new bike. (the new Tier 1 LEGENDARY bike.....ready to crush all the opponents.)
KTM is a bike seller so what is the problem?
The problem is the concept, which is based on associating different products with similar business targets to induce people in consuming.
This can easily go out of control and probably will.
I try to avoid all the advertises I can because they are studied for influence our thoughts even if we don't think so (like any other experience in our lives, in different ways).
Just thinking and sharing. smile emoticon
We are already paying micro transactions and this is a shame, now this.
I think it's kind of disrespectful.
no disrespect, but i really have no idea what point you are trying to make.
the KTM season is the best so far, by miles. no endless repetitive grinding, really based on racing, and no need to force you into paying for gems or anything else
I just wonder if RL was approached by MI5/Paramount and KTM, or if RL approached them with the idea. Either way, it seems like an interesting approach; so often these days each new movie that comes out has some cheap mobile game slopped together for it. . . here today and gone tomorrow.... but instead these guys went to an established game with a known customer base and got themselves added into the game as expansions.
From a business sense, it seems like a win-win for all concerned ... After all, RL was probably already spending dev cost for these expansions anyway... all they had to do was update it for a sponsors theme. . . and got some/all of their development costs paid for.
But like you said... no customer paying to have their product placed in-game is going to want it to be "cheap"; these sponsored items will always be top-caliber. I wonder if the Tier 2 and Tier 3 ones will also be KTM or some other sponsor...
I strongly hope they get exactly this way: please give me a KTM Yamaha Honda GasGas and so on event every month ! with no grind and everyone of the same level this is by far the best event ever.

I can understand where your concern comes from, but I don't think it is actually well-founded, or at least, it is going a bit to far into the "conspiracy theory".
I don't know what were the terms of the partnership with KTM, but I think you should think of the story that way :
"RL meeting room - 1 product manager, 1 game designer :
- PM : What could be a super cool event where we could introduce a new bike?
- GD : hum, dunno. What about introducing a real bike? Bikers would really like that!
- PM : yeah sounds cool! Name me one!
- GD: ok, hum.... BMW!
- PM: No no, cooler! like hardcore racing, trial/enduro type of stuff.
- GD : KTM?
- PM : And a KTM event it is!
round of applause"
Of course, I am over-simplifying (there were 2 game designers in that meeting!)
Does the KTM event advertise for KTM the brand, yes I guess. But honestly, KTM doesn't need Trials Frontier to communicate around its name. It's more a tribute to this well-known brand than hard-core advertising.
Many Trials Frontier are at least a little bit interested in bikes, some casually, some being bikers IRL. So RL just wanted to introduce a new bike in the game that would inspire players. Plus KTM had the good idea to get an orange logo, colour that fit very well Trials Frontier design
I am really sorry to hear you felt disrespected, but I can assure you this wasn't the purpose of this event
@Xitooner, I actually don't know, but knowing the industry, I would say RL approached KTM, not the contrary

CabanonGH wow I forgot they even had adverts in game, haven't seen one in years
