    I've done everything listed in this thread ...

    i7 .... 3.50GHZ quad core using a GTX 970.
    Get the splash screen and then nothing ... I hear the game running but cannot see it and my mouse freezes within the game window I cannot see.
    I tried rolling the driver back multiple times all the way back to 344 and that did not help.
    Disabled nv streaming through MSINFO 32 ... not helpful.
    I have to pull up task manager to get my mouse back. If I minimize task manager I lose my mouse pointer again ... ugh.

    Welcome to the forums!

    Have you tried verifying the files in the Uplay client?

    Can you also try the following?:

    - Open your Control Panel, uninstall anything which is related to Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.

    - Once this is done, please download and install the following files :

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...ils.aspx?id=29
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2010: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/downl....aspx?id=14632
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2012: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=30679
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2015: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=48145
    For your information, I've had this problem too yesterday right after the new update. It was not related to a dual screen problem (since I have only 1). The problem was that after clicking "play", the game crashed on the splash screen "An error happened, close now".

    First tried to verify (everything was fine)
    Uninstall reinstall game, still not working
    I did uninstall all Microsoft C++ Redistributable related files
    I did install from all your links the fresh versions
    I tried to start game, was not working
    I rebooted and started the game, still not working
    I verified my game files, no problems detected
    I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, started the game, still not working
    Rebooted, started the game, finally working !

    So IDK what was the true problem, but it's now working.

    For inmformation, I have a GTX 970, latest drivers in date (364.47)

    PS : Uninstalling and reinstalling the game do not screw your save game since it's in sync with UPlay.

    Good luck everyone .

    on top of doing this 5 times. When i open up the game from the steam shortcut even though i have 2 hours played in the loading screen it says,
    "performing first time setup...
    installing step (1of2)"
    if i have the Uplay launcher is open i thought it cut off the download. tried launching the game without Uplay launcher running and it still closes out in the middle of steam "performing first time setup"

    Why cant steam do its thing?

    what operating system do you have installed ? if its win 7 make sure you installed service pak 1 an all Microsoft updates

    the reason i ask is .. i bought the uplay only version.... i use win 10 Pro on my main desktop with an SSD drive i bought he game it installed and worked perfect (windows 10 was installed as a clean install not an upgrade)

    so last night i tried the game on my laptop it has windows 10 home with an SSD drive ..game installed and launched perfectly
    (again Windows 10 was installed clean... not as an upgrade)

    moved to my other oldest system it has windows 7 Ultimate with Service pak 1 installed on it

    the game installed but hung on launch .. during the direct X setup it took about ten min .. that machine has an older spinning Hard disk in it (so yes it's slower and took more time )

    then the game launched but would not load .. it sat there at the Primal splash screen

    But in the backround ......windows popped up a small screen that i did not see at first in a small window that said windows detected a compatibility problem and said relaunch the application

    so i closed everything on my PC .. restarted it .. went to my far Cry Primal .exe an right clicked on it selected properties

    and checked a box marked Run as Administrator .. i then launched u play launched the game again

    it then .... re ran the direct X setup and the other Microsoft redistribute packages (again took several min to complete )

    then the game launched perfectly

    also if you are running windows 10 and installed Windows 10 as an upgrade from a previous operating system
    you may be missing some user account privileges ...see this post it may help you

    http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...1#post11441551

    also make sure your monitor supports at least a 1280 X 720 resolution (as on all 3 of my systems that was the lowest resolution that shows in the in game options as being supported )

    also make sure you have only a single display hooked up until you get the game to at least launch

    good luck i hope you find your fix !

    The game crashes for me in the snowy areas. Most everywhere else it runs without issues.
