This is very frustrating and it was the same with Far Cry 4. They never fixed that either even though I reported it to support and got them to acknowledge it was an SLI limitation.
Here's the thing, SMAA itself doesn't have any issues with multiple GPU's. But in Far Cry they're implementing temporal SMAA which is definitely affected by multiple GPU's because it requires information from the previous few frames to average together the algorithm for anti-aliasing the current frame. This CAN be modified to support SLI but it isn't often done because it's difficult to do. The bottom line is, Ubisoft could easily implement a non-temporal version of SMAA as well for SLI users so that us SLI users have an option for anti-aliasing OTHER THAN FXAA!!!! GEUNINE PC GAMERS DON'T LIKE BLURRING FXAA!!
I don't know WHY they didn't include MSAA in a AAA title like this and left only FXAA for SLI users.
But consider me another requesting party for a working SMAA implementation for SLI.
