Please - survival diffculty wanted !

Playing this game on expert mode, I have avoided upgrading health or resource buffs, I still find the game a bit easy, especially if you're wandering through the world with a beast at your side!

It would be great to see a mode where water, food and sleep had to also be considered. However I'm realistic about how easy these things are to implement.

SO, what I would like to see for this mode is,

    1) An overall reduction in animal population, so you really have to go out and track, find and hunt animals, to essentially survive.
The world is too densely populated with animals anyway, you can't move 20ft without bumping into an animal, it does feel slightly unrealistic! I think this would be the key difference, as less animals, less meat! It would make survival more considered, and force the player to be more careful with resources.

    2) the day and night cycle is made longer! I personally feel it's too short, and too quickly transitions from day to night a bit unrealistically.

    3) meat now replenishes 50% less health.

    4) less resources available

    Sounds really good!
Should not be another difficulty-setting, though, rather a checkbox for a gamemode, which can be played using any difficulty desired. Like the Hardcore-Setting in Diablo.
    - Maybe also a steeper XP-Curve? From what I've been hearing, people have their skills maxed out while only on 40%-completion, or so.

This is an awesome idea. It would make free roaming feel like an entirely new game almost.

I think some other major points could be:
    1) the fully upgraded winter clothes shouldn't be an option, you should always need to find warmth in the cold environments.
    2) you should be unable to light weapons with animal fat and only from an already lit fire.
    3) resting at certain points should be mandatory, you shouldn't be able to wander oros indefinitely without resting.

Boy o boy does this game need a survival mode!!!

This is game is not the game it was in the first 4hrs..... It's way too easy.... On Expert difficulty! I've been pretty careful in not upgrading any health or resource buffs, but I realise that upgrading your weapons is just not worth it. It makes the game too easy...

And frankly when this game is easy, it's kinda boring... In contrast - when you feel under pressure to survive, it's incredible!

PLEASE BRING US A SURVIVAL MODE UBISOFT !!

    Re-Incorporate Realistic / Infamous settings

I agree with the majority of posters above - the game needs to have a setting where, once you've conquered the game, you REALLY feel like you've accomplished something.

Having been a fan of the series from Day 1 with the original Far Cry, I well remember the Realistic setting there which made it (and still, to this day shines as) one of the sternest tests for PC gaming.
Seriously, the difference between Realistic and the next hardest Expert Mode was light & day and absolutely filled you with foreboding in each mission, because you knew no matter what, that your backside would be handed to you, but boy oh boy did it make you a better & more skilled player as a result.

Far Cry 2 had Infamous mode, which, to a lesser degree than Far Cry 1, was demonstrably more difficult than the next hardest mode, but still, I would like to think that the devs in future would look back to the past in terms of difficulty levels and offer up true challenges that only the truly hardened would get through.

Far Cry 3 & 4 were immensely enjoyable, polished games, but imagine how much better the experience could have been with a Realistic-type setting .. they were, even in the so-called 'Hard' mode, just way too easy to beat and for mine, never left you with a sense of accomplishment of genuinely having survived a true test of survivability or upper skill levels

    Agreed

I agree with all the above mentioned comments. I'm maxed out all my abilities at about 40% completion and I have found it to be far too easy on EXPERT mode. I've even forgone getting any health upgrades and it's better that way for sure. It was WAY too easy to tame all the base animals up to cave bear.

I was actually thinking of doing the game over again but getting fewer skill upgrades to try and make the experience as realistic as possible. So far it seems fairly balanced in terms of combat damage to enemies but I feel invincible most of the time with my beasts. My only real challenge so far was the Udam fort, otherwise all other quests have been quite easy. Overall I absolutely love the game and I am very excited to see what comes next with it!

I love the game.... I've had some epic moments, even on a recent Jaguar hunt, they really stalked me, and were quite smart actually....

I would also also like to see for a SURVIVAL MODE - only bonfires and Outposts are spawn points... Or even just outposts!

I was thinking on my following play through I'll upgrade less. Maybe not upgrade my weapons. However, I really haven't upgraded any ANY health or resource buffs, apart from one extra health bar making a total of 3... Although I did accidentally upgrade my guts bag once...

The linear SKILL TREE is a nightmare if you want to be careful about upgrades.... Thank goodness there was nothing decent locked behind health or resource buffs!! The only compromise I had to make was some double clubs rubbish in order to get 'deadly traps'
