Shoot The Messenger mission hangs in Control Room

Hey Guys, this is my second time through the game, played when it first came out and decided to revisit it on Hard this time. Anyway, I just got into Act 3 and did a couple missions, then went and picked up a Golden Path Mission from Sabal and Amita. I played through the entire mission and got to Noore. I was coming up behind her and had already decided to tap her and not listen to a bunch of junk. That may have been my undoing. As soon as my weapon automatically switched from an LMG to the handgun, I popped her in the back of the head and she swandived into the arena. The scene ended, but I never got the Mission Complete graphic. When I started the game again later, it took me back to the exact same mission with Sabal and Amita, just like I never completed it. I'm thinking I missed a trigger by not letting her talk.

So now, when the mission restarts, I get to the little hallway outside the control room with two enemies in it. When I kill them and take a couple steps forward, the game freezes an I have to use Task Manager to get out of it. I've tried this three times, restarting the game from scratch and getting to the control room, but as soon as I kill the two enemies, and move forward, it freezes. This is a Win 7 install with a GTX 980 Ti Hybrid.

Being this far into the game, I sure didn't want to have to uninstall and reinstall. Any ideas if he game is corrupted at this point in the misson, and whether there's any workaround? Thanks in advance...

verify your game files , sometimes missions will hang if a few files are corrupt or not properly installed

To verify your files if you bought the game thru Steam ..\EXIT Steam ..right click your steam icon ..select run as Administrator

    to launch Steam

then go to your Steam games library

right clik on far cry 4

    select properties

    select local files

select verify Integrity of game cache

it takes a few min to do but its faster the redownloading your entire game , if its only a few files that were corrupt or installed incorrectly .... this in many cases will fix your problems

If you have the U play only Version of the game you can also verify your game files with U play

if you have the game via u play only here are instructions how to verify your game files thru their client
Again its probably best to make sure you launch Uplay as RUN as Administrator when you do a file verify

see the bottom of the page

also shut off any Nvidia gameworks settings that you have enabled .. they can cause the game to crash

Nvidia busted the gameworks settings in the Drivers over a year ago

    see pages 14 - 15 here https://forums.geforce.com/default/t...-in-far-cry-4/

ubisoft does not write the nvidia gameworks code .. Nvidia does ..

so shut off any setting that says nvidia gameworks and use the in game ultra preset for your 980TI

i use a Strix GTX 960 , if i enable any of the Nvidia gameworks features = crash
shut em all off and it runs great .. those Nvidia game works settings are so busted even people with titan X cards in SLI can not enable them and get the game to run crash free
many people have opened support tickets with Nvidia on that problem (myself included ).. so far Nvidia has ignored it , i think they changed something in the drivers to support newer Nvidia gameworks games and never went back to fix what they busted in FarCry 4 gameworks

Hey WID, thanks for the excellent information. I've seen a ton of posts about NVidia Gameworks hosing the game, but I've never noticed it in the Video Options for any game. Is it just separate parameters that you have to enter, or is it a batch of settings? Anyway, mine are all Ultra, which is why I scored the 980 Ti Hybrid anyway. So I did the Uplay File Verify, and it found that all files were valid. I restarted the PC and everything was smooth, no hang at the Control Room. I guess something in Windows 7 was just hosed and the restart shook it loose. Thanks for your time...
