Can Takkar put his ear to the ground to locate herds and large animals? I don't think so. The play throughs do not show such mechanics. Primal is basically Far Cry without guns. I have Far Cry 3, and decades worth of games where I sneak and ambush my way to the ending, in a variety of presentations from low magic to high magic, low science to high science, iron age to space age.
If I am to play Yet Another Ambush Game, I require more depth beyond the surface presentation. A visual theme is not enough for me anymore. The game mechanics have to support the theme in depth, or breadth, for my enjoyment, and yet somehow avoid tedium.
This is not to say that Primal is a bad game. I do not think that Primal is a bad game. I can recommend Primal to someone who has not had their fill of Yet Another Ambush Game. Primal is a good game, for people who have not had their fill of ambush mechanics. The market on ambush game play is crowded therefore being the best requires more depth, or breadth.
A lot of games, particularly in the past, got around this issue by giving you a box of many shallow flavors. But, Primal is a very narrow. Pointy sticks and pets is all one has to play with, Ambush Style. I can only do that so many times before I have to take a year or three off from that.
I am also not saying that Primal will fail. Primal might become the most successful game ever. I'm only sharing my personal opnion about what I require in entertainment at this point in my gaming experience.
Peace.
No, in the past they would use their feathered drones and LSD to see into the next valley.Originally Posted by Viragoxv535 Go to original post![]()
