I think a good way to keep people online and have a competitive vibe going would be to have occasional "events" happen, similar to Splatoon's Splatfest, where one map is chosen per event to "conquer." The player can choose between the 3 factions to support, and then there will be set aside servers for conquest warfare alongside the regular ones. Then the player would simply join other teammates in 4v4 dominion(since this seems to be the most appropriate game mode for the scenario) against one of the two other teams. After a set amount of time(a few days or a few weeks, idc), the event would end and players would get rewarded depending on their contribution, with the faction that conquers the land getting more, obviously. I was thinking of a currency system to reward players with to unlock weapons and cosmetics with, but that's a topic for another time. Whaddya think?
This sounds promising but I'd like to add in some suggestions.
1) Why not have a daily bonus for participation like points to buy customizations for your warrior, then at the end of the week the winning faction gets the big bonus, perhapse a unique color of metal to apply to your sword or armor, or a demascus pattern fuller for your swords. But the weakly bonus must apply to the entire faction. So the players compete to see which faction the weekly bonus is given to, but anyone can switch over to that faction to try it out once its out.
2) Add in unique threats in these maps like bear traps and dart spitting statues. And even a huge NPC like a bear, a lion or even a yeti or something totally random. Make the big NPC invincible so it just terrorizes the players for extra fun.
I dunno about the invincible NPC, but everything else sounds pretty neat!Originally Posted by CapnPunkin Go to original post
