    New mechanic request

I understand that what I am about to request would take more time than now to release. However, it could be something for a patch.

I played the beta along with some of my long time SOCOM clan mates. We had a good time trying things out seeing if it was a game we could move to. There's just one thing that gets my goat about the game. And rather just whine about it, I have an idea to solve it.

Here's the scenario that commonly happened in the dark zone: my team is wandering the DZ taking out NPCs and while we are in the middle of a firefight, some random dudes walk directly between us and the NPCs like we aren't even there, and every time, we go rogue because they got shot by rounds intended for the NPCs. A nanosecond later the guys who were shot, take us out. We lose bucks and our loot because of it. Again, we were engaged with the NPCs first and then these guys (in tunnel full FPS tunnel vision mode) walk in oblivious of us.

There should be some sort of mechanic that recognizes engagements to NPCs and allows more of a grace period for going rogue for people just becoming involved in the same engagement.

As a long time Socom fan I just want to shed a tear with you as our beloved franchise is dead. Moving on...

I think they need to implement a "going rogue system" where you can become marked for "going rogue" but don't actually go rogue until you kill someone. It might clear up the friendly fire issue a bit more.

Also, at this point you just really need to be cautious with your firing. The game is super lenient with giving out xp. You don't have to always be firing if the circumstances have other players running through your LOS.

It sounds to me in the scenario you just described you got played. I bet the accidentally walking in front was part of there plan, which is how his mates dropped you so quickly. I do like the idea of a going rogue status & it could fix some of this issue however that could also be exploited. Are you allowed to shoot back at a going rogue agent?

I got stung once by a guy who walked up to me & just started shooting at me. No doubt of his intentions I immediately shot back in his face. What happend next was annoying & one of the mechanics I think needs addressing. So what happened next was my hit to the face did enough damage to trigger me as rogue & his mates immediately put me down stole my loot with extra exp & dz credits! & there where no repercussions for them. I'm sure they were going around doing this to everyone they could.

The reason I mention this is a going rogue status could either cure or make worse this scenario / exploit

This is what one of my clannies said. And while true I also feel that not having a way to teach people not to stand in the way during a firefight is going to wreck the game for many. Let them die because I detonated a sticky bomb that they stood next to. Let them lose their loot. See if they get the hint.

    Agree with previous posters

I too encountered the problem of other players walking into a combat and taking some collateral damage, making me go rogue. Especially when I was using grenades.

The system proposed (not actually going rogue till you kill someone) makes a lot of sense to me. It makes it far more likely that someone who goes rogue has intentionally done so.

It does leave open the possibility that players will deliberately almost take out others, leaving them to be picked off by other players or NPCs without going rogue. This seem as to me like a smaller problem though, especially if the other player cannot pick up their gear.

Thing is that at one point during the beta I was rocking a build with 6K dps. Just a couple shots were killing everything. (Which also had me clinging to just over 2000 health at the same time - yeah, changed that.)
