yes, it would help
no, it doesnt help
i would only use speakers
i dont use a headset
proximity chat is great because you can talk to players in your area or hear what people are planning or saying. i get that you have added it to the speakers because it is supposed to be like you are just hearing them talk because they are close to you however with all the other sounds of shooting and explosions it can be difficult to hear. with all the tech the characters have it wouldn't be much more difficult to believe that they can pick up chat through the headset when they are close to another character. i am not saying make that the default but allow for it to be an option or an unlock.
Edit: I understand that when you are in a group you only want to hear what your team is saying or not to get confused between group chat and prox chat, so that could be an option too. to only have it in a chat headset when you are solo
Edit: CHAT HEADSET DISCUSSION
Used matchmaking many times most of the time I couldnt hear the other members of my team. Even when we used xbox live chat it was very buggy. I use a stero headset. I had to keep changing volume setting in game and on the xbox just to get things sounding right and never got it how I wanted.. In fire fights good luck telling me your down cuz I couldnt hear ****. Tho not totally sure if it was the game but I never had any issues with hearing people in all the other games I play.
of course it does because you are using a headset for sound. i am talking about a headset for chat, i thought that was self explanatory when i say it is only coming in through the speakers not headset. so to clear things up, the issue is proximity chat does not come through a chat headset, it only comes in over the speakers. i want to know if others think this should be changed or an option to change because i believe it doesOriginally Posted by HeliBrewer Go to original post
Ah sorry...didn't pick up that you were addressing the chat-only headsetOriginally Posted by TurfTyrant Go to original post
yes i can plug in my stereo headset to the controller or use my wireless 7.1 headset, but that is not my point. i want the sound to come out of my sound system and chat to come in through my chat headset. that is the way i prefer to play. i don't want to wear a sound headset every time i play. plus i have bose speakers and gaming in just better that way IMO. but the debate isn't on sound headset or speakers it is whether proximity chat should come in through a CHAT headset. like the one that come with every xbox
