I've had my system completely shutdown on 4 occasions in approx. 3hrs. of playing. No other game does this (I have approx. 14 other games installed.) It's a graceful shutdown. (as in, not blue screen. very odd.)
Shutdown occurs completely randomly, could be in combat, could be walking down the street. Nothing is consistent about it. Button actions. Indoors, outdoors, doesn't matter.
The only consistency is that I'm moving when it happens (walking or running.)
Playing on Ultra graphics settings. So far tried changing AA settings, no difference.
My system specs:
i5-2500k (stock clock)
16GB DDR3 1600 RAM
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 06G-P4-4993-KR 6GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0+ (tried old drivers and brand new drivers, same results)
Biostar TZ77MXE motherboard
Resolution 2560x1440 at 60hz (LCD: U2515h)
Windows 7 x64 Professional
Multiple SSDs
Logitech G110 keyboard
Again, my system only shuts down on THIS game. No others.
Anyone else seeing this????

I adjusted only the resolution, kept it on Ultra.
This time the application faulted but my system stayed online:

(Also, regarding yesterday where it shutdown - there was no dump file generated, no error log indicating "unexpected shutdown.")
Next I'll try with lower graphical settings.
Ok, played at 1920x1080, lowered settings to High w/Medium AA, has not crashed. *EDIT: eventually it did actually crash*Originally Posted by Ubi-bounce Go to original post
Next, will try 2560x1440 at same graphical settings.
Played at 2560x1440 on High w/Medium AA, seems stable, but only tried it for 30mins.Originally Posted by Ubi-bounce Go to original post
Will try for longer duration later tonight.

*Possible solution* (not certain.)
It would seem that your game is somewhat sensitive to virtual memory settings. Most people don't change these, but some of us do.
On High settings (2560x1440 resolution) it seems that 3GB minimum of virtual memory is needed. **EDIT: STILL CRASHING**
I haven't tried Ultra graphics settings yet. As a guess, will probably have to go higher on virtual mem. for this.
IMHO: Seems ridiculous on a system that has 16GB of physical memory that's nowhere near full utilization.
Thanks for responding!
Look sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one. So going out on a limb here that you dint check this yourself . Is it not overheating. Gradually shutting down without bsod is often a protection system from hardware. I would really urge you to check both your GPu and CPU temps while playing as it could gradually build up to a high temp. The fact that it runs fine while on lower settings is lower strain on the hardware and not reaching those temps?
I have the exact same issue, and it's 100% overheating. I tracked my CPU temp leading to the shutdown, and it peaked at 85C at which temperature the failsafe mechanism shut it down.Originally Posted by Rynierg Go to original post
Only workaround was running at low graphics and limiting to 30 FPS. Which is annoying.
