I think most people misinterpret what a "Beta" is for. Betas are so consumers can try out the product, find bugs/glitches and test out server stability. You as a consumer get to try it out and see if you like it, however, more or less, the real goal is to make sure there aren't any major bugs/glitches that make it into a final product and to make sure everything is balanced and work the way it is intended. That's why creators really push for you to give feedback on gameplay, so ideally nothing makes it into the final product that shouldn't or at least can be identified if it's something major and time consuming to fix. The server maintenance is a good thing now, because they might have found some bugs/glitches/imbalances that need to be corrected. It's better this happens now in Beta instead of after the game launches and there's a much larger populace affected and in the consumers mind, money spent.
So glad I understand beta phases and can actually handle 3 hours without the servers. I mean..it's not like you own a console or a PC that probably has other games you could play during the down time or anything. I'm just going to enjoy my tea, load into The Division, and wait for another maintenance to happen so I can read more people crying about how they think because they were invited to a FREE OPEN beta, their complaints are valid.
