Probably? They ****ed something up in their code, its causing crashes or another issue (such as an explotable bug) and they need to fix it. They dont know where it is so they have to find it and rewrite that part. If it was simply a load issue restarting servers would be enough. Which doesnt take 3 ****ling hoursOriginally Posted by kmb0872 Go to original post

Also due to the loss of 6 hours off the beta would be nice on their behalf to extend it by 12/24 hours..
And I agree that it they would've given a reason to the down time, the complaints could've been less.
This post is a bit long, sorry about that.
Not a rant, just feedback. I do love the game. From what little we have to taste.
Although it sucks massively that the servers are down. And for such a large time. But the worst thing is not notifying the playbase.
Firstly, I am a strong believer in not making the player leave the game. This is something a lot of developers do not understand. Sure we have internet and forums and can look up information, but why make the player leave the game. All important information should be in the game. This includes information for missions, tools, crafting, any mechanics, and also scheduled maintenance shutdowns. A big notice on the log in screen is a great place to put information about server shutdowns. I'm also sure it would not be difficult to put the local time for the shutdown in these notifications.
People won't hate you as much if you let them know and they can work around it.
Second, logging on during this maintenance put my in a loop inside the game. All I could do was press spacebar. No escape, no log out. That should be fixed. If a player can't play your game you should make it very clear to them that they can not play and provide them with a way to quickly exit the game. Or even provide a link that will open a browser to a webpage with more information.
Loops are bad mmk.
Third. I understand there is a lot of information and numbers and bugs that need to be addressed in the beta (even when the game is live) and that is why the servers are down. I am sure there are ways to gather the information and deal with it while the servers are running. Servers need to be reset and all that jazz. But maybe think about moving players to a different servers and rebooting a few at a time. I know this can't be ideal all the time and sometimes all servers will need to go down. It happens.
To the players, you have to realise that it is needed and should happen less and less once the game is live and Ubisoft learn more. I'm sure they want you to play the game as much as you want to play it.
My next point is about the actual game! That is why we are all here, to play the game (ironic). The game is super fun when playing with friends. I loved it. I want more. It looks great and runs well. Biggest problem is that this beta doesn't show anything of this games potential. Most of the tabs are disabled. If you don't want us to use them at least let us look at them. Crafting is suppose to be a major part of the game, why not allow the players to craft a few items. Even if it is a beta only items that everyone can craft and use at the beta level cap.
I have my doubts about this game still. As much as I want it to be as good as it has been hyped to be. I feel like the DZ system needs refining. Sure there are always those guys that go around killing everyone, living for pvp. But when they log off what happens? Every player that is too scared to go rogue just stands there waiting for someone else to shoot first. Not the best gameplay. Maybe for high end items from the DZ, the player holding them can show up in the UI like the rogue agents. This will make extracting high end items more challenging, but still worth while. It will also give the usually nice players a reason to go rogue. And the results can go two ways, the player will extract the high end item with ease or complete chaos. The DZ is meant to be chaos. Seems like the only option to me.
Alll in all. I'm happy with this game. Undecided about buying it. If my friends don't then I most likely won't. Sucks about the shutdown.
Potential can only take you so far. For your next game beta I suggest giving the players a small taste of most of the features in the game. Like crafting.
Also, any chance of motorbikes? Almost sick of walking and It's only been 6 hours of gameplay.
Didn't pay 75 pound.. here as well.Originally Posted by T1nfoil H4t Go to original post

Let's face it America is the money ticket that funds the majority of most games the down time is set to least effect them which makes perfect business sense. I'm UK so missing a few hours this Saturday morning is not really a big deal and it is just a taste of the game and most people will still have plenty of time to play the beta. Stop whining and go do something else for a few hours.
One of the primary purposes of this play test will be to test network infrastructure and server loads. It's one of the few times they get to see a really high load on their network.
Anyone who's played :Siege knows that their servers are notoriously poor. They will be tweaking network settings and architecture and then re-testing the next day to see performance improvements, which is why it's going down every day.
I just feel really bad for the people who paid £75 to play this game early. Open beta, free, fine don't complain. But if you've been lured into paying £75 to "get in early" by clever marketing. Yes, it's a "beta" (hardly it comes out in a month), but really this is just a server test. You're paying £75 to be dummy data on a line, and being treated as such. £75.. ****ing shameful the way these companies bleed money out of people any way they can.
Luckily I didn't pay a dime, poor souls.
