    Approaches on CVL's were exactly the same as landing on the big decks. The take off's for heavier aircraft were catapulted. Turn the ship into a wind that's doing 15-20 knots and set turns on the screws for 20-25 knots and you'll have a 35-45 knot wind over the deck. No problem for the lighter crates. Planes attain 50 knots of deck speed before reaching the bow and establish almost 100 knots of reletive wind over the wings. Piece of cake!

    The CVL's, built on Crusier hulls were rated capable of 31 kts in a good sea state with a clean bottom. The CVE's varied, mostly bases on a merchant hull design and bottom of the barrel power plant, could at all out flank speed turn 19 kts, (with a little boost from prayer).

    Enough wind over the deck is sometimes a problem in CFS II, hopefully realistic parameters will be provided in PF. 35-40 knots in the fleet carriers would be "nice". If in the tradewinds, 15 knts plus another 25 from the ship makes a kindly 40!
