I'm a casual player and I understand that the current event is designed to stop the complaints about too much grinding. But prizes starting at 20%? That means 80% of the players are not getting anything at all. Couldn't you have put in some consolation prizes at least? Some gems or coins or even chips (or Stallion blueprints if need be)? Why should I try a track more than once if on the first try I end up at - say - 60% on that track and I can see that even with a better run I will never make 20% (except by practising for hours on end, which would be worse than a little grinding).
The game currently puts me in top 6% of the event LB, and while this would mean I get the track after all, I have no idea how I got there.
Oh, and fix the crashes, please.
20% is not as much hard as it looks like...do a top 100 time on each track and u are automatically around 1% , do top 500 on each track and you are 5% etc. etc. etc. Some tracks have huge difference between times on top 100 and times on top 200 on the same track so without even run the track perfectly you can go pretty high...top 20% is like if u have a 0 fault but very slow time on a track you are over 20%
Currently 52500 players on IOS event LB
Everyone below rank 22000 has ZERO points. Only 41% have even TRIED. In other words.... They updated, logged in to see whats new... Might have played the free tracks... And then went about thier lives.
Rank 15000 (30%) has only 3 million. . .
Yeah, its early in the week still, but I have watched the LB for all the weekly events for a long time, and this is pretty common. There will be 70-90K players on the LB by end of week, and the 5K truly avid players on IOS will have no problem reaching these goals. Those other players are so "casual" they are comatose, and cant be of any real interest to RL from a business perspective.... They dont play, so they wont "pay"
How on Earth is this worse than grinding? Practicing and building your skill so that you can overcome a challenge. I see your point about 80% of people getting nothing but saying that a skill-based challenge is not as good as a grinding one just boggles my mind. I think the best option would be some established time thresholds that you have to overcome rather than being compared against the community (at least for the lower tier prices) so that everyone can get the tracks.Originally Posted by yjgalla Go to original post
but 20% for a track its nothing new, it has been always 20% for the track at the end of the week
But on previous occasions there was always some other stuff to get for those who couldn't make the 20%Originally Posted by PL-k4kshi-TFG Go to original post
true, but to be honest 50% of event players arent dedicated too much, but the 30% that cant reach 20% should get something, im sure they try to reach 20%Originally Posted by yjgalla Go to original post
Some gems, etc.... consolation prizes .... like a "Participation Award"? Like when my daughters soccer team wins the championship, but the last place team all get trophies too (in this case they even looked the same)?Originally Posted by yjgalla Go to original post
I hate Participation Awards. We are raising a generation that thinks they should get something when they didnt earn anything....sorry, I cant feel sympathetic for these folks...
(getting off my soapbox now...)
Gotta say though... I do like the way RL set this event up, with the top guy getting all the blueprints right away, but a decent amount of folks will still be able to reach that goal by the end of the full event if they are consistently good. That was a nice touch.
I also feel this event has been setup well. My only adjustment would be instead of identifying all 10 tracks on the first day, they could add 2 tracks a day.
My first day was pretty fun, but once I reached 7 million, I've barely paid attention. I'm not going to be #1 (although I was for about 5 minutes when the event began).
Day 1 there are 2 tracks. Day 2 has 4 tracks and by day 7 there are 14. Then I would care every day of the event instead of just one.
I definitely play more than the average player and this event seems aimed towards people like me but I do think it's a bit unfair. If you've only had the game a month or so and don't have time to play it a lot then what's the fun in this update?
In fact what's the fun in it anyway? I'm currently sitting in the top 2% on the board, and it wasn't too much work, so it seems like I will have to check on it to maintain my position but mostly it's a waiting game now. That's kind of boring, but when you think of it from the perspective of people who know they absolutely won't make it into the top 5% what's the point in trying at all? So they can get perhaps 15 of the blueprints at the end of the event and have to wait forever to be able to win the rest of them?
We can't even get the rest of the stallion prints yet and that event was last year. Should people really grind and try hard to make it when they could easily slip down to 6% and miss out on one part, causing them to miss out on the whole bike?
At least with other events you tried hard and it was a grind but you got SOMETHING for it. If you're not completely on your game with this you get nothing.
