    Hi everyone,

first off all, thanks a lot FatalDragon for this initiative!
I will forward this thread to the devs.

I play on a Samsung Galaxy S4, Android version 5.0.1
I have the speed-up/slow-down issue from time to time, but it's very random.

    Speed Up / Down

I'm on LG G4 32GB / 4GB RAM. I occassionally get heat up when playing for extended periods, but it's the speed up / down issues that frustrate the most, especially when you are in a Showdown and racing to win a track!!!

Welcome to my life for the past 2 years.

All the more reason for devs to add a "turn off moving sprites" option (fire, spinning saws, waterfalls).

Oh I use a Galaxy S3. It has always done this, even when it was new.

iPhone 5....never had over heating issues. I have an Otter Box Defender case over it too and a battery app that tells me the battery temp. Almost never gets into a critical condition. My memory gets 70%+ full sometimes and it slows everything down. I open the Battery app and clear the memory and boom its back to normal speed.

I use the Moto G4, only get lag on 2-3 tracks that I know of, and seem to get the speed up/slow down lag happen when I get notifications come through, but besides that it's fine.
It doesn't heat up much even when charging.

I have been playing for just under 2 years on an HTC One M8, in the last few months the phone has started overheating a little. I upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S7 a few days ago and that seems fine.

I was just wondering what device everyone else played Frontier on and whether or not you get any over-heating issues then followed by the notorious speed-up <> speed-down problem at-all ??

I only play on my Un-Rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 running on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop !! (I know some people play across multiple devices)

It does over-heat some times but not too often (usually happens about twice a week) it really depends on how long I've been playing, usually heats-up when I've been playing for around an hour then the speed-up <> slow-down problem gradually creeps-in until it's unplayable.....Takes about 10-15mins after it starts to heat-up before it becomes unplayable !!

So, what device you play on, is it rooted or un-rooted also what ROM and OS are you running, because I was curious to see which devices suffer from this over-heating problem as it seems to be the root cause of the continuous speed-up <> slow-down bug that we've been playing with for AGES !?

Does everyone suffer from this OR Is it only certain devices, ROMs and OS's OR Does it simply happen from playing too long etc. etc. !?!?

What-ever the cause of it is, it would be nice if they could get it fixed once and for all as I don't have any other game that does this !!

I look forward to hearing your views on this.....Thanks in Advance if you post a reply !!
Hey Dragon, long time no see

I had to log in cause of this thread as I already tried to explain a bit on your issue here: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...1#post11166299

The major culprit is the thermal throttling no matter someone else might say and your phone is teh one SOB that enforces that to the letter.. if left unrooted and without the means to disable DVSF... i.e Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling, which is so badly implemented on S4 (so to cheat on synthetic tests vs. real performance by Samsung) that it has to be turned off if you want the phone not to act up if it goes over some thermal threshold Samsung think is OK/NOT OK. It's Touchwiz DVFS app and service that non rooted phone can not exclude.

I had S4, had it rooted from day one and I never experienced something similar. Now on OPO for quite sime time, it's the OnePlus One on COS 13.1.2 (6.0.1 MM from September this year and no similar issue here).

    Cheers mate & take care!

Ipad 4, ios7 jailbroken, still works fine
Sometimes I play on iphone 5s also ios 7, also jailbroken and iphone 6 ios10 (no jailbreak yet for this one) also works fine.

Someone may not agree, but android is nothing but a crap, just emulator which needs 10 times faster hardware to work. It is normal that it suffers from overheating.
Don't get me wrong, I am far from apple fan, bat in this matter, they are light year ahead.

This is new information for me, i use a Galaxy. When you mention the OPO with COS, are the speed issues gone because it´s an OPO or because you´re running COS? OPO has no DVFS? Or all phones have DVFS but implementation varies? Thanks and sorry if these are noob questions.

The first Galaxy? Then no, it does not have the DVSF in that imposed form, but it does have the thermal throttling like any other mobile phone has. If it's the first Galaxy, then it all comes down to the specs - it might be to old to support the "new gen" games. Not all phones has DVFS in Shmasung form... only Shmasung cheated on synthetic tests in this filed of competence... aside heavy thermal throttling for V0 and V1 Snapdragon 810 powered phones...

My phone is not throttling at temps up to 75 celsius, but hey, I have one God darn great custom kernel that is ruling my phone so there's no need to throttle it at all... underclocked at 2.2 Ghz with zzmove extreme battery yank gov. - it's working as some latest gen sets are performing only in 2016... Unleashing the gaming zzmove profile while no underclock is performed yields totally smooth gameplay but consumes 20% more battery while doing so and while gaming, so I chose the compromise settings and those are working wonders... no hangs, no lag and no speed ups or down for me here. I could mount Oxygen OS, but where's the fun in that? Or I can go for some other competitive dev. teams OS forks, but I wanted the CM and/or COS as my default OS so here I am, fully satisfied with my choice.

My old S4 is (still) running GPE L edition OS and is having zero issues overall, let alone this game... It's Shmasung setting the phones in their way, it's not the phone per se - be it S4 or S5 or S6 or S7.

As for the first gen. Shmasung Galaxy... that's a different story. It's now underrated and underpowered to drive newest OSes and/or the newest ver. of apks/games. S2 could yiled some, but AFAIK, that one is to old too to get in the serious game nowadays (I have one in the drawer, heavily modded and running on spartan hybrid version, but it's too old to perform greatly).

At the end, it all comes down to the optimized apk/game code and the machine you wish to run it. No, I can't have Vulkan engine on mine, but neither can you up till S7... so there's no point to be sory for not having it. Vulkan is the new graphic engine, but you need different HW or devs to use it on older device.

Btw, this game is not optimized to the extent it should be in the first place, to pestering your phone with CPU and server calls while serving nothing is odd and should not be there. When you pester the CPU, you are pestering the GPU part too so non optimized code is only attributing more to potential glitches and stalls and overall overheating.
