    About factions!

Does anyone know more about the factions and their origins? Altogether are many factions in the game?

well ill try to break it down the best I can:

The Cleaners: New York City Workers(garbage men and such) who where left inside once the quarantine was put in place, they feel like they are the ones who will really rid NYC of the virus by burning everything.

The Rikers: Prisoners who were able to escape from Rikers Island(A large prison in New York) and are releasing their frustrations and insanity onto the ravaged streets of New York.

The Rioters: People left in the city that are trying to just steal and murder their way through the apocalypse, just general scum.

The Last Man Battalion: The LMB is a group of Private Military Contractors who were called in by the richer, higher class citizens to help protect them. while its not certain yet what made them turn and try and take NYC for themselves im sure we will find out in the game. (I think their commanding officer just kinda went ape **** and decided it would be best for the city if LMB took over)

The Rogue Agents: those who defy their allegiance to The Division and turn on fellow agents for their own personal gain.

The Division: Agents who are activated in desperate times of chaos to help contain the situation and get to the bottom of who is responsible.

I hope I did a good job of laying it out for you, let me know what you think.

That'd be a negative; the cleaners are for the most part city sanitation workers, and some firefighters joined with them to help eradicate the "green poison" one burnt body at a time..

A little more backstory would have been nice. There really isn't much to go on even with the Collectables. I feel that we defeated the factions leaders too soon, also. A few more missions before we took the fight to the bosses, or maybe a separate mission that wasn't thrown in with Wing missions. Even if Lt. Col. Bliss has a better connection with Keener and his Rogues, the other factions' leaders deserved a better storyline.

This is the first video in our series covering the back story of each faction!
Personally, I love the backstory of this game and saw a gap in videos overviewing the factions so.....yeah!
Let me know if it's helpful at all!

Well Rikers Island has an average of about 10,000 inmates at any given time. With a death rate of %90, I have heard in game a number as high as %95, that would leave 1,000 alive. Now consider not all of them are hardened violent criminals and many would have split to find family and friends as soon as they were free, that does not leave many left to be much of a faction. I am assuming about the same number for Cleaners.

I would think that the Rioters would have the most people yet I would hesitate to even call them a faction as their is a real lack of organization.

There is one other faction not mentioned, the JTF, who the Division people are loosely tied in with. I believe they are mostly firemen, policemen and National Guard and are the ones trying to restore order to NY.

For me the factions are one of the weak points in the story. I assume they wanted to avoid being labeled another Zombie game or they could have went along the lines of the Omega Man movie.

    Ferro

The Joe Ferro (leaders of the Cleaners) back story has a lot of potential. Seems like an uneducated, blue collar, conservative guy who appeared to be an "ordinary Joe"(I don't think his name being Joe is a coincidence) and turned into a physcotic mass murderer for what he thinks is "the greater good.". Seems to be some parallels with folks in in Germany who joined the Nazi party who saw genocide as a viable option to "improve the situation" in their demented eyes.

Like the phone call where he tells his granddaughter not to believe everything the media says about him. His rants to the "troops" sound like a guy who sincerely thinks he is doing what is necessary.

Would like to learn more about how he dealt with his wife's sickness, and how he formed "The Cleaners."

Parallels with Nazi leaders (e.g., Himmler was a pig farmer) IMHO.
