Just for reference, wth is good endgame?
Everyone keeps throwing it around like it's some sort of magic bullet that will make any game worth playing, but no one brings up a good example.
Borderlands 1 end-game was boring as hell until they released the General Knoxx DLC. Then trying to solo Crawmerax without any glitches became the "endgame".
BL2 wasn't much different, and had little content beyond the later released OP levels. Other than that it was pretty much farming the DLC bosses and reloading the game to get the "ideal item rolls" in the vendors.
Literally the only on-launch endgame The Division can have from the currently released footage and the beta is likely tied into the DZ metagame. Which is great. Because the best end-game content is the one made by players, not developers. It lasts longer, shaped directly by players to match their needs (whether some people whine about dying in the DZ whilst extracting or not), the players police and control it and do whatever the heck they want.
Of course for someone that won't be enough and will always complain about not having objectives, or just generally complaint that the game doesn't hold their hands and tell them what to do.
Whatever happened to it's not about the destination but the journey?
I played the Beta, I all to familiar w/the grind and the farm, I played the @#$% out of BL and BL2, I'm still playing Destiny, the Beta itself...solo was more fun than I've had in a video game than I can remember. The simple fact that the game allows you to replay story missions and on a harder difficulty is great and for loot. This creates new activities, whether you decide to partake is up to you. Replaying a mission like a lot of us did in the Beta became a source of farming, finding new ways to beat it tactically, trying to beat it faster, trying to beat it w/a different layout, w/1 person, 2 people, 3 ppl, 4 ppl etc. Some ppl were enjoying seeing how high their headshot dmg was on hard mode...and this is 1 story mission. No doubt there will be plenty of things to do and redo until it becomes stale. All these elements help to create an end game experience and that none of us even can confirm since the game is still a month out.
W/the way the story is setup, even if you beat the campaign it will likely still be open ended as there will still be looters, thugs, other faction members and things to do. If your goal is to beat the campaign as quickly as possible and digest as much content as quickly as possible, you should consider taking advantage of the ability to create up to 3 division agents and just do it 3 times over.
If I play this game for 100+ hours it was money well spent. I don't need end game before any DLC has been released or the game itself.
Beat the game first, then revisit this post.
didnt miss it. my reply was unique, or at least I tried...Originally Posted by kabbies Go to original post
Right on... when did this culture turn into demanding end game information before purchasing a game? I know I certainly didn't demand to know what to do at the end of Super Mario Bros or the Legend of Zelda before I bought those games. Hell, I didn't demand it for the Mass Effect series either, if you want a more contemporary reference.Originally Posted by Adonnay Go to original post![]()
