I am just REALLY hoping that this will be a good team strategy online multiplayer game. Just like SOCOM 2 or FTB2.. Once when SOCOM attempted to do 1st Person, They died out.... And ever since than, no other game has ever tried being like the 3rd person SOCOM!!! So many people completely miss that. It's heartbreaking...
Heres a post that I've found on Reddit, (You can also add Corner Watching.. Which adds more strategy and thrill in 3rd person)
"Since SOCOM faded away after chasing the new kids on the block (COD/BF) I don't think a developer has really gone back to the formula that made SOCOM and SOCOM 2 great in the first place.
1) Small average map size
2) No Respawn
3) No Vehicles, No airstrikes, no double jump, no ******** gimmicks.
It's a simple *** formula that SOCOM abandoned hastening it's death. This formula represents my favorite type of multiplayer shooter because...
1) Death hurts - It feels like it matters. When I can simply tap square to respawn I don't care if I die.
2) Forced teamwork - I don't care how good your COD clan is, the teamwork involved in extracting targets, planting bombs, or a simple fire fight in which death is permanent takes a lot more planning to be successful.
3) Atmosphere - In no respawn shooter will you feel the grip tightening excitement of having your entire squad watch you play as a lone survivor against multiple enemies. Saving a round in these scenario is the pinnacle of multiplayer gameplay to me."

I never played SOCOM but I've watched other playing it and I'm pretty familiar with the gameplay.
SOCOM, while similar in some respects, is different from Ghost Recon on several fundamental levels. SOCOM places a huge emphasis on movement, aiming ability and reflexes, while Ghost Recon games place more emphasis on tactical movement, situational awareness and team co-operation. SOCOM's aiming mechanics are simple, quick and precise while Ghost Recon's mechanics are much more deliberate, with multiple factors to take into account before firing your weapon. In reality, SOCOM's gameplay, while excellent, has more in common with Counter-Strike than the Ghost Recon series.
I wish Sony would release a new SOCOM game with the same classic gameplay, but it's fundamentally a different game from Ghost Recon. I like both of them equally but for different reasons.
As someone that did play a lot of SOCOM back in the day...you're pretty bang on.Originally Posted by Novan_Leon Go to original post
As for the topic, SOCOM and GR have a lot of similarities but they also have a lot of core differences too and in my eyes they just aren't compatible. The movement and shooting are totally different. To me, Ghost Recon is at it's best with larger maps that allow for both respawn and non-respawn game types. Of those gametypes you'd be including pure TDM, neutral objective game types, and attack/defend game types. As for 'forcing' teamwork...good luck with that. Unless you are playing with friends or a clan there's literally no way to make randoms do anything in this day and age...let alone play objectives.
You can play both and you can love both. It's a bad idea though to try and make GR into SOCOM or vice versa. You'll just end up making people frustrated at best or angry at worst.
This right here. I would compare more to a hybrid of Socom/GR though. Ive thought it a bunch of times if you could take Tlou and make it a military shooter, bigger teams and bigger maps Wow! Youd have a heck of a tac shooter.Originally Posted by Flaw3dGenius23 Go to original post
