And with regard to the Corsair's gear problems - yes the gear was too bouncy. Most of NZ's Corsair losses were due to landing accidents. And the NZ loss statistics were typical of the type.

IIRC the oleos were fixed in later models.

I have info of 191 sumthing Corsairs destroyed due to enemy action, compared to 900+ in accidents. I wonder why this thing was nicknamed Ensign Eliminator?
