The social noob sleeper agent: from the Division (a group and network) to the Team, from strangers to acquaintances to friends... and how to get there..
For a lot of us, life is busy but largely lonely. We work long hours or have a partner that requires attention (if you're not lucky to date or have married a gamer :), occasionally go hang out with friends or strangers... We're not all lucky to have big social networks and groups and heaps of people to hang out or party with.
So sometimes, you need to change your mind, have some fun even while alone. You log into Community Intelligence, check out what's been going on the past days or hours... Comment, like or dislike (clean up some of the non-intelligent content), vote and discuss... You try to participate.
But then the real mind-changer is logging on and taking on the life of your Division persona.
Supposing you did the tutorials, wandered around solo, saying a few "Hi all" in the chat comm', you then are at risk of becoming a loner again, in-game.
Before, using a mic' was inconvenient because of parents, surrounding noise or.. lack of a good mic'. That inconvenience might have been mixed with shyness to speak up and be heard, to mix in with a crowd of superstar personas. You don't really know, could be... really fun and awesome, but it might feel as if you're walking up to a crowd at a bar... (only slight exaggeration).
When you're an in-game social noob, not easy to change.
Hoping The Division will take into consideration the social noobs out there. Levelling up, badges, missions... those motivate and help push boundaries. Having a "social progression" roadmap with assistance offered (how to find a team, how to easily reconnect with people you previously teamed up with, ...) would be an excellent way...
...to shake those real sleeper agents awake, and reveal their potential for long-term fun team-oriented contribution.
