    New Class: "The scimitars"? (Oriental)

    Hello there fella fighters^^,

since our most desired game of 2016 takes place in the middle ages, I´d would like to suggest you something new: a class with warriors born in the desert, raised on the long trading routes of the orient, and in a fever for battle: the scimitars

The origin of my idea is the existence of 3 classes which cover 3 different cultures: nordic, european and asian. In my opinion, the middle east was very
important and a locus where many historical things took place - regardless of their consequences. Hence, i thought it would be a nice idea to bring the glory times of Armenia, Persia and Parthia back to life with a new class of combatants who are armed with scimitars, daggers, compound bows and so on. Now, i know the struggles of bringing a new class into the game, but i dont see any other way to include the middle-east-warriors of that time into the game since it would make no sense putting them into one of the other classes because they just dont fit in any other class.

I apperciate every answer or other hints, maybe someone who actively works on the game notices this and hands the idea pver to other coworkers in order to bring my idea to life, maybe you have better ideas then me, maybe we can influence and create the game together even better.

I´m looking forward to YOUR answer

    A fellow warrior

PS: Maybe also think about the native americans and the tribes in South America? What do you think?

(Sry for any mistakes written by me, im german^^)

This game isn't set in any historical time period, we don't even know if it's set on our planet. Vikings and their raids were mainly around late antiquity to early Middle Ages. The Knights are armored much like they were in the late 14th century, whereas the samurai have a very long range of time periods to be set in.

Also, The Chosen are already the faction that roams the desert, as stated in the faction's biography.

I totally agree on what you said, my friend. Being aware of the historical incorrectness of For Honor, I still would approve my suggested class(es) to be part of the game because it would give the game -regardless of the historical incorrectness- more versatility and hence would be even better to play ^^

REPLYThat is a interesting idea =minat00p;11282517. But I would be more sold in the idea, if I wasn't questionable of your knowledge of history. Not what your saying isn't true and historically accurate, but for me the idea behind For Honor is more of a hypothetical, "what if these dudes fought these dudes?" kind of ordeal. The ultimate historian's idea for a death battle pretty much. So there isn't room for making up fictional classes. It just sounds like you want an excuse to add in assassins in the game.

Those knights seen in the game are actually more appropriately armoured like crucaider knights NOT MEDIEVAL ONES! This lines up pretty, time wise, pretty darn well with the Vikings.

    My dear friend,

why so toxic?^^ The vikings were way before the zenith of the middle ages, the crusades were between 1095/99 and the 13.th century, and the mamluks e.g. were between the 13.-16. century. I´m not lacking of historical knowledge, my dear

But i dont want to be toxic. I myself am persian, I know much about what happened in the Orient, and hence, i want them to be in the game sooooo bad xD
But in contrast to your hypothesis, i dont want an op-assassin-clan, i just want to fight against the Warden with a scimitar (which would be kinda realistc too [crusader vs scimitar])

    Stay cool, my friend

    A fellow mate

Just going to copy/paste what I said over HERE and will probably do so from now on if new threads pop up, since it expresses my thoughts the most succinctly and has links to more detailed arguments, and it's easier than typing everything all over again (unless an actual new argument is presented).

    1. As of right now you're only able to play as one faction per team. That is, you can't have two chosen and two legionnaires. That means that if we have 5+ factions the playerbase will be really divided and there'll be a high risk of friends not being able to play with each other using their favorite characters.

    2. Since each faction need to have enough characters and diveristy to account for a four man team, that means each faction will take considerably more development time to bring to us, not to mention lots of cool historical warriors who only uses a few iconic weapons will have a hard time making it into the game since there isn't enough diversity to justify an entire faction.

I'd much prefer if new warriors either are "stand-alone" and able to chose a faction to join (i.e. available for all factions), or tacked onto an existing faction, mercenary style.
All of this expresses my thoughts, but that bolded bit is the biggest reason I don't think it's really a good idea to make entirely new factions. The proposal to have new warriors added to existing factions is something I brought up over HERE, and I think that would be the best option for adding cultures; and if not as mercenaries, then as the result of alliances, even if they're shaky.

This would be the major exception. I think anything dealing with indigenous American cultures would work better as a standalone and completely separate expansion---similar to Battlefield Bad Company 2's Vietnam expansion---both because, from a realism standpoint, there's no way warriors wearing, at most, wooden breastplates and animal hides would be able to stand toe-to-toe with one in full plate, and, because you could get really in depth with the cultures---Maya, Aztec, Sioux, Apache, Blackfoot, etc. etc. (probably combining some, through an alliance system, or grouping them via geography [plains, plateau, jungle])---and avoid the vague stereotypes we usually get in media.

There was also this thread made a while ago asking for Arabic warriors. Still think they should add a Hero/class (or two) to the Legion.

Well, i am aware of the problems, but on the other hand I dont want like a million dlc´s with a million new fractions. Maybe they could make more classes which are like map-bound? E.g. the aztecs cannot fight on a map with. e.g. a castle, but vice versa the warden cant be picked in a jungel map. i know it would be a impairment, but it would allow more fractions, which for me is totally worth it. Or they could enable to have more than only one class per team. Does somebody have a better idea? I dare you, i need help, i want them soooo bad ^^
