    PC, black screen, farcry4

I bought farcry4 on steam, downloaded uplay and tried to launch the game. When I do, it comes up with the windows bar and a black screen and doesn't move. The only way I can close is by going ctrl, alt, delete and using task manager. Other than that, nothing happens. Just a black screen. I am aware my computer is not a gaming computer (lenovo ideacenter q190) But it can run dirt3, just cause2, skyrim, burnout paradise, dead island, sniper elite v2, and others. So I figured if it can run something as big as skyrim with no trouble, it should run farcry. But it just comes up with a black screen. Can someone tell me what is wrong, how to fix it, or what I should do?

many of the games main assets run off CPU core or thread 3

if you have a dual core CPU there is no core or thread #3 for to load the game on = black screen

core #4 comes into play when you open the map edit program and it takes a decent CPU to run

cores or threads number 1 and 2 are also in use for both the main game as well as the map edit program

    as to video cards

GT series video cards as well as Intel video chipsets and some AMD chips do not provide enough memory bandwidth or low pixel and vertex shader counts that will not allow the game to load properly , Direct X 10 video cards do not even support Direct X 11 shader model 5.0

many Nvidia GT series cards as well as some low end AMD products and all Intel chipsets use slower older DDR3 memory (intel ones use your shared System memory)

not dedicated GDDR5 video memory, this cuts down on the amount of memory bandwidth the game has to load and draw the textures , end result will = black screen

this is why it says in the minimum system requirements Note: Laptop versions of these cards may work but are NOT officially supported.

the Minimum system requirements are posted on the Steam Store page before you buy the game , you should read them and make sure your PC meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements on any software before you buy or install it ,, for years (decades actually ) this information has also been available on the outside packaging of every piece of software that you buy in a retail store

if you failed to read or understand it ... seek a refund from Steam , they may or may not be able to help you

    please see
    https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...6695-QIKM-7966

most retail outlets do not offer refunds on software.. all sales are Final (again that has been that way for DECADES )

they are not gonna re-code an entire software title because you were foolish enough to not read or skip the minimum system requirements
and that your PC can not handle the game because it falls below the minimum system requirements

if you have a Dual core CPU you will have to Upgrade it to play Far Cry 4
its 2016 for gods sake ... and even an X box 1 or a PS4 both have 2 quad core modules and i would not be surprised at all , if future titles also will require at least a quad core CPU

pretty sure Far Cry Primal will have a quad core and a decent video card requirement , as it's gonna use the same in game engine that was used in Far Cry 4 (modified version of dunia 2 )

and i doubt the dev team wants to try to re code an entire engine so people can run a game on systems that have less hardware support then even a console does

and yes this games engine is HARD on your Video Card , much harder then other titles and even a Geforce 960 can not max out all the in game settings..and last i checked .. that's a $200 video card
    see http://www.hardocp.com/article/2015/...4#.Vo7VcxUrIdU

to see how hard it is, look here on LOW end cards like an Nvidia GTX 760 or the GTX750Ti series cards run the game
    http://www.hardocp.com/article/2015/...8#.Vo7NERUrIdU

and they are using an Intel I7 for a CPU for these benchmarks ...
