My mind is absolutely blown here. Somebody tell me I'm not the only one experiencing this nonsense.
I spent over 40 hours creating an extraction map. It starts off in very high altitude. Shortly after starting you arrive at two hang gliders. You float through a linear path through a couple obstacles for about a minute and a half, then you get to the portion of the map where the real battle begins. I tested everything thoroughly before publishing and it worked great.
So I start a co-op game with my buddy... immediately apparent that not all collectibles are on the map. Notably missing are a number of guns I placed. Then we get to the hang gliders and it's impossible to board them as the co-op, non-host player!! As best I can tell, the game as created in map editor is not the same once published. Anyone ever heard of this?? So then I modified it, I thought what the hell, I'll just add 4 hang gliders. So I tested all 4 of them and they worked great, so I published it. Upon arriving at the 4 hang gliders, 2 are missing inexplicably. Of the two remaining, both the host and other co-op are able to hold square and board the hang glider. However, once boarded, the hang glider immediately pitches downwardand the player automatically exits the hang glider, it then falls off the cliff. This happens ONLY in the published version. I went back to the map editor after this happened to play it and verify I wasn't insane, and sure enough it worked perfectly.
So, I accepted defeat on the hang gliding portion of the map. I figure the programming of the map editor itself isn't up to snuff, and I wasn't about to keep publishing maps to the public just to test them. So I turned the entire hang gliding portion of the map into a route for a snow mobile, very hilly with obstacles that require "Reckless Driver" to be on in order to not die. There are some high falls. Unfortunately things get even worse from there.
I tested the map thoroughly again and published it. My buddy and I go to play it in co-op... both of us are able to enter the snow mobiles. Yay! Buuuuut.... not so fast. I land my first death-defying high jump in the snow mobile. My buddy follows... and promptly dies as he lands. Reckless driving is enabled ONLY for the host. Now if there is some setting making this the case then fine, someone let me know, but I don't see it. It seems like yet another glitch in the map editor. I'd also like to note that I know the player can get hurt if he falls off the snow mobile, but that is not what's happening. The snow mobile is damaged and catches fire. That is not supposed to happen.
So at this point I have spend over 40 hours on a largely useless map. I specifically design maps with co-op in mind.
Any feedback on this is very welcome. I'm using the PS3 version of Far Cry 4.
Not sure if this will help at all for I am PC... don't know about PS3. Anyway similar things happen in PC if you do your testing from the editor. I do all my final testing from the game menu, open the map editor there and PLAY the map.... do not OPEN in editor. It should play exactly like it does after it's published. It plays and looks completely different than from the editor itself. I hope this helps you or anyone else. Always play it from the game menu before you publish it.
