Just got this email from my Dad (he was tail gunner in WWII in a B-26). I know what I'll be
    doing with AEP this weekend!

As a matter of fact I did see an ME-163. As it approached from the rear and pulled alongside our formation I didn't know what it was . My first thought was that it was a P-47 but then I remembered that we did not have P-47 escort that day. The plane did not turn in on us but went ahead of our flight and then made a head on attack on our flight but did not hit anyone. When we got back to the squadron the lead plane in our flight really gave our top turret gunner a "royal *** chewing" for not protecting our side of the formation. My top turret gunner was very disturbed. The real issue was that the lead plane had several crew members who were approaching the end of their tour of duty(65 missions) and they were extremely upset that we could have been a cause of them not surviving.
