My brain hurts and my heart bleeds....

I really love creating tracks and although i am not the best i do think i have decent and good tracks. Not naming names here but i have had good comments from estasblished builders.

I have about 35 tracks with 90% and above like ratio. Likes ranging from 280 up too 521. Downloads 600 to 950.

A few tracks ago (the track is called Stream). I gotten insults from some player and another player was still raging when he sent a message. The second one atleast explained he was frustrated after playing my track and apologized.

Now my last 2 tracks i see names that normally do not play my tracks and i get the distinct feeling they do it just to downvote my track.

Now i know i can not protect myself from that behaviour but my joy to create has greatly diminished. And i wonder if the people that like my tracks would feel that i should keep creating.

As for now i feel empty and gutted as all the work and all the testing is pointless as the tracks get no chance. last 2 tracks did not even get 200 downloads.

I try my best to understand what is happening but since i can not get any information on why this drastic change is happening. I think it is better to just stop creating.

Really had some good fun creating and playing with awesome riders.

I just do not know what to do now.

    Regards,

    Hey Xntr1cs.

    i love creating tracks too.

i would like to say that if you have 35 tracks with 90% and above like ratio you are doing fine and clearly LOTS of people are enjoying them. i do however understand that it can be frustrating when few people can make or break your track rating wise but you can't really do nothing to it and if you feel like they disliked it for no reason then keep building like you have ^^

i build on pc and my top rated track currently that was in the top5 all time for long time and has 193 likes and 1 dislike only have 480 downloads. i don't always find the motivation to build stuff but thinking about my friends who i play with and talk daily usually makes me motivated to build track for them.

i don't know if that was any help but wanted to comment something

@Haarmes yeah it helps. It is just that im trying to get myself to see things in the right perspective.

I see the negative things and feel them harder then the positives. So i thought i make this post and maybe the comments from people will help to get things back in the right perspective..

Thank you for commenting in a constructive way.

    Hey X!

I'm not a track builder. I do, however, have a little experience with creative content and how it can feel to get these down votes and dislikes. I would like to offer that insight as just another forum user.

I've done a ton of YouTube videos. That was my creative outlet and that is where I was bugged by a down vote or dislike or two. What it boils down to and what is left when you really think about it is the process. Sure, it's nice to know someone enjoys the "thing" it is that you made, whether it is a video, song, track, picture, whatever. But the process of making it has got to be the real reward for you. If you enjoy that process then it no longer matters to you if the project you've worked on is ever even seen by another person. The process was worth it. I get the feeling this is how you feel about track building. Don't let a down vote or two cloud your vision of what you truly enjoy about track building. That process is the fun, people enjoying the tracks means a lot, but the process needs to be fun to you, first and foremost. If that is the case, don't let a spiteful down vote or two keep you from doing something you truly enjoy.

I'm personally going to check out some of your tracks. Sounds like you've put a lot of effort into them.

    Keep up the good work!

EDIT: Just to add a tip I found helpful. Stop looking at ratings all together both good and bad for a while. Give yourself time to just create these tracks and enjoy the process, then upload and walk away from them. You'll find after a while, you have the right outlook again, have found what you like about the process again. Then when you do start reviewing ratings again, they won't bother you nearly as much. Sometimes it's just too easy to get too hung up on ratings.

    Cheers.

This is why you'll get down votes it is because your tracks are too extreme which will annoy riders with less ability.

I can hold my and up i say i have been here . I would imagine almost every up coming builder who has a passion to build and wants to learn has also had this same feeling because likes and data from track central is maybe the only way a builder can chart thier progress. Theres no certificate or no accomplishment as to gauge your building progression on so it is really hard to know if what you are doing is correct or incorrect and i totally understand how frustrating it is to have people openly disliking your tracks for malicious reasons , even worse when the same people keep doing it on every build. Unfortunately this doesn't stop ever, people will still find a reason to dislike your track even if it is perfect. Maybe they are tired of seeing you always at the top of track central , maybe the green eyed monster. People sometimes dislike tracks from a quality builder with an excuse that they think the builder could build better, It never stops but a builder changes , and begins not to care about ratings and data because eventually you will understand your own build and have strength to know that its a good track and the ratings and what people are messaging are infeluenced by flawed opinions.

i play your tracks i like the fact that you make extremes that are not too extreme but are still enjoyable without having to spend 300 faults on them. I like that you spend time and try to make your enviroment suit your theme and make the dl fit into what theme you have created. I cant say it better than matt as above , especially his last part. his advice is exactly what i did my self , infact i completely stopped going in track central except to test a track i had uploaded. I made 4 tracks before i wondered in there and to a degree were my best four tracks i have made lol. Enjoy the editor bud , try new things , forget track central as a rating system. I promise you it is has no reflection on anyones building quality. If you want progression levels , take it from the people who build quality tracks and have given you positive feedback.

I will add a tip and thats , when you are making your track , build for what you like , if you like flasing custom cameras , build it. If you like speedruns or massive jumps, build them. We are playing a game. if you picked up Bo3 would you put on attachments to your class that another player you know likes ? or would you use what you like ?. Also if there is problems with your dl or track , speak to a quality builder , dont talk to some random person sending horrible messages. if they are doing that in the first place thats deffo a sign they are nuts

keep building bud , you put effort into your builds and it would be a waste to stop progressing .

I have some very simple advice and this applies to positive things you may want to acheive in life in general, do whatever you want and don't let others discourage you from doing it. What do a few immature trolls account for in the scheme of things? Just block them, ignore them and watch them fade away into obscurity while you're doing what you enjoy. You will always encounter negative people, the question is will you let them bring you down or will you rise above it?

On the otherhand, maybe you should also consider that your tracks may fall short in some regard and maybe this negative response is an opportunity to get feedback and identify how to improve your future builds? No track is ever perfect and in my opinion no matter how long one has built for or how many tracks one has made, there is always room for improvement so long as you want to improve.

Couldn't have said this any better.

Personally, I've enjoyed playing your tracks and hopefully you keep building tracks.
