I got the birdman torso and pants yesterday (I got the head earlier) - as I'm not so much into the competitional part of the game, I'm therefore happy
(Also I got some maps, bell tower as the latest. But nevertheless, worthless parts keep coming all the way, 9/10...)

Really Sorry to hear that you haven't had anymore tracks drop yet mate BUT I still have faith that your luck (and everyone else as well) will change and give you them before the end !!

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones as I had the 5th track drop for me the other day (The Bell Pit) the Global Leader Board says there's about 300 other people (on Android) that own it now as well, so it's slowly being unlocked here and there, hopefully you'll have them drop soon !!

    !! Merry Xmas Mate.....Hope you have a Good One.....Enjoy !!

You weren't promised new tracks, that's the point. You were promised gifts, that may be new tracks. You are expecting new tracks, which is different.
Have a look at the patchnote for the Xmas event, it says "The rewards earned from the presents are random. Inside the presents can be found both classic and brand new items, including tracks, outfits and bike skins."
I can understand that you have the feeling you are putting too much effort for too little rewards. But it was never said that you will receive new tracks with this event. It is even mathematically possible you don't get any new track, at all. I honestly don't think it will happen, but it is not impossible.
So if you play the event only in order to win new tracks, it is understandable your are frustrated. But the event wasn't presented that way.

I see. Thank you for the clarification. I've generally enjoyed trials frontier up until this point despite some of the unnecessarily long grinds. If this is the turn trials is taking with track updates I guess it's time to move on. Cheers.

RL should at least have increased the frequency of track drops for those who purchased the event special.
    Hello ryanv35,

I think you are referring to the Challenge track packs bundle. If it's the case, it didn't offer new tracks, but tracks that were available before in 3 different bundles. So if you bought some before, it is normal you got only 2 or 3 new tracks.

this event is not BALANCED AT ALL!!! IMO BADLY DESIGNED!!!
i show you the difference of luck between someone very lucky and someone who's not...

also your communication about this event,in the first time you asked unlucky ones to be patient, now it's time to say the truth by telling us that is mathematically possible we don't get any new tracks... BADLY DESIGNED!!!
it's not the christmas goal to satisfy everyone ??
    apparently not...
    Hello tomtraimond,

I don't think I am missing the point. What I am saying is that it's not because the event doesn't meet your expectations that it is not well balanced. It has been designed that way.
We can discuss why the Xmas event doesn't meet many players expectations, what we can do better/different next time. But your whole argumentation is only based on your "IMO" part.
I understand your opinion, and I discussed that with RL already.
The luck is part of the event. You can like it or not, but it doesn't mean the event is badly designed.
The fact it is mathematically possible to receive no track at all, doesn't mean you can't be patient. If is was statistically impossible not to receive the tracks, I guess this whole conversation wouldn't even exist, ergo no frustration, ergo I wouldn't have to say "be patient". (I'll stop here the rhetoric, I'm confusing myself, but you see my point )

And me, I though Christmas was all about giving...

i've read the pro's and cons, but its pretty clear that the christmas event is a steaming pile of dog****. RL is lucky there arent any other good physics based racers for me to play.

It is also about receiving... Grinding is the part of the game no one likes much, but grinding so to not get major gifts is a complete nonsense this time around:

I collected 24k in the first week and now I'm at 18K or such...

I don't need fuel, I don't need parts and I don't need coin - I PAYED and OWN the suits that EXACTLY DO GIVE ME THAT in return of my $$$.

I have all the bikes and suits - bar Samsarian torso/legs and I miss about total of 4 upgrades for teh Stallion (on purpose). I have 10.5k tickets, 6.6mil coin, 4.9k gems, more then 12 of each lvl 5 per spare parts that are worth absolutely nothing to me ( let alone the count for lvl 4, 3, 2, nad 1 parts... HILARIOUS!!!).

Now your algorithm is providing me with bulls all the time... Are you fricking serious? The algorithm SUCKS - I got another fossilized fuel with the squirel on it... Wait? What? Should that be my "major" level gift? I have the UNLIMITED FUEL for crap sake!

@ any official rep here: Think again before you post while trying to calm things down.

ps: I see the point after this event - sell the missing tracks for 1k gems etc... Bravo...

No, I wasn't foolish enough to fall for that one, i already had all of the challenge tracks. Though, that's a dubious one that RL pulled. I'm typically a bit supporter of the team and the game, but offering that bundle to those who already owned all the tracks and stealing 550 gems is trash.

What i'm talking about was the special offer that went with the start of this event. It cost $50 US and came with 1M+ coins and 2k+ gems, which is a good haul but I really don't care about that. It also came with the Christmas Gal outfit that cuts the cost of of opening Christmas Presents in half (from 400 down to 200). Figuring that there was high quality content available in this event, I thought it would be a great investment to up the total number of tracks and unlock some outfits (some of which I had previously purchased on a different platform)... I'm still holding out hope that I get all of the tracks, but it will seriously suck to throw $50 at the game and still come up short at the end of the event.

You need to realise that new tracks are the main reason most of us are playing this event.

Essentially new tracks are the only gift\reward that we want.

Therefore you have created an event where it is possible to put in a lot of time and effort with zero reward - imo this is bad design!

In a perfect world, players would be happy to get free gifts, what ever the gifts are, because, well, it's gifts.
Charly, I have this vision of you putting 100 nicely wrapped presents in front of your child and saying:

"Look at all these nice presents! So many... I will give you a present every time you do something trivial; stand on your head.. or maybe run around the block. But you have to do something...some of these gifts might be something you want...or maybe none of them will be. Almost all will certainly be totally useless to you, but its still FUN to open the present, right?"

I suspect before you reached 50 presents your child would be in tears, and your wife would let you know EXACTLY how she felt about this. Because... its NOT a "perfect world", and opening 50+ gifts of random fluff in a row is not some great privilege that somehow magnifies the occasional "good gift" we may get. When taken to extremes its just... filler... that demeans the entire concept of giving thoughtful gifts.

I certainly wouldnt do that to my child, and I wouldnt do that to my customers. Customers are rarely thrilled with the idea of "you pay money and/or expend a lot of effort.. and you MIGHT get something useful. Or hey, instead I might give it to your competitor for half the price".

We are customers, Charly. We have choices on where we spend our time to get the most from it, I am hoping RL remembers that.

Therefore you have created an event where it is possible to put in a lot of time and effort with zero reward - imo this is bad design!
You guys are absolutely correct in feeling the way you do; it is HORRIBLE design if you are (as most of us gamers are), interested in:
    - games of skill (which is supposedly a core trait of the Trials games)
    - fair return on investment for time spent (grinding is likely but putting in effort should always get you the rewards)
    - Leaderboard integrity (I want to beat people fairly, not by random chance)

It is a fine business design for RL however:
    - We need to do maximum grind the entire time to get the good stuff... this equals money for them via advertisements, etc.
    - If "luck" goes against us... then they get to give us the "treats" again later. It apparently wont bother them any. Hey, maybe they can make us pay again; wouldnt that be fun and profitable?

You can like it or not, but it doesn't mean the event is badly designed.
New plays open on Broadway all the time; new movies come out every day. Whether they are success or failures is NOT determined by the people who work for the company. its determined by the CUSTOMERS who pay for it and then tell others what they experienced.

You can debate good/bad design all day long but whats going to matter is whether we come back for more next time. And you need to realize that (no matter what you hope for) a large number of us wont be coming back IF WE DECIDE its not a fair contest. Us not getting all tracks when we have worked as hard as we did in previous events.... IMO thats not really gonna be looked upon favorably if it should work out that way...

... but hey, its gonna be the way RL wants it to be...

    As for myself:

    Week 1 ...... 31000+ points (IOS top ten) = 77 gifts
    Week 2 ...... 29354 so far (IOS #1 at the moment) = 73 gifts

I have 2 tracks so far.

Back in this topic I decided that I will spend the entire event getting the best possible scores to show exactly how generous RL can be to those who try their very best in this event.
    http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...1#post11242819

If I get all event tracks via very hard work/effort... I continue to play. If not... then I leave the game and dont look back, since its clearly not worth my effort. Sort of a public service to all concerned to let them know the state of the game...to maybe help them make their own decisions.

I am so much more cheerful now that I've reconciled myself with the event; if I leave I will go out doing my best and finding out something useful to all. And the suspense is killing me.

    Merry Xmas everyone!
