I have been following this forum for a couple of years without feeling the need to be involved however I would like to make few points that I hope you will feel are valid.

I am of an age where flight simulation involved an Airfix 109 in one hand and a Spitfire MkI in the other. Therefore the discovery of Flying Corps Gold, Air Warriors and CFS1 was a wonder. Il-2 was good and FB knocks spots off the opposition. One strength of CFS2 is the range of 3rd party aircraft, some good, some not so good. FB I recognise has pretty strict quality control but does seem to reveal a limitation.

Il-2 and FB began as Eastern Front sims and do the job excellently. The drift west concerns me. There is an excellent Normandy map for example and I have had greatfun building ground attack missions with the Ardennes maps but there is a big hole in any attempt to portray the air war in Western Europe with FB. Where is the RAF? The Royal Air Force kept the air war in the west going from 1940 until 1943. Consider that it is not just British pilots and ground crew but those gallant airman from France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Czchkoslovakia and any number of other countries.

I entirely understand that producing these aircraft takes a lot of effort and that many of you have the same concerns that I have but a serious sim with 109 E-K and Z and no Spitfire (used in small numbers on the Russian front) seems to lack something. If we are going to balance the huge number of aircraft available (I don't complain about any of them and look forward to a P51-B especially) we do seriously need a range of Spitfires, a Typhoon, a Tempest, a Beaufighter, and a number of Mosquitoes. Some of these I have seen under construction and they look good. B25s and A-20s could easily acquire RAF skins. I would love to see a couple of flights of Mosquitos with RAF P51 escorts on one of the Finland maps on an anti-shipping sortie in a Norwegian fjord.

    I await your comments gentlemen

Well I'm not sure I completely understand, it seems to me that you are not concerned so much with the addition of certain areas of air combat as much as you are concerned with how they will be handled.

If that it the case, my only answer is that I don't think that the aircraft becoming available are typically considered as a plane set, if you follw my meaning. Rather, it is driven by the politics of 'what's new, what's wanted most, what's done and what isn't'. The politics of what choices of aircraft to model might typically come down to what meets 1C:Maddox's standards first, whether or not it was made in-house.

RAF Mustang Is escorting Mosquito bombers sounds right up FB's alley, I think.

One of the limitations in FB seems to be high altitude modelling. I am no game programmer, but the issue seems to be that it's harder to do a more classic Western Front type of sim with FB. I think this is one of the reasons 1C:Maddox is beginning it's BoB sim. I don't really have a lot of info on that.

More Western front will make me happy...and more RAF aircraft will also make me very happy. As good as everything we have right now is...more aircraft with the same attention to detail and fun factor in the multiplayer is extremely appealing.

No worries, RAF aircraft are slowly coming...

BoB (with Spits, yes) will be an excellent start into the Western Theatre but it doesn't need to stop there. I've been browsing the Target for Tonight forum for awhile now and they will have some great Lancaster, Stirling and other bombers in their freeware sim. One question I want to ask them, however, when the opportunity arises is if there's a possibility that some or all of those models can make it into the BoB engine.

BTW, JG14_Josf, supreme training tracks on michapma's site. Great teamwork example.
