In a previous thread in general discussion I asked about whether there would be free roam or not. It seems like it is inconclusive so far so I would like to directly suggest that there is free roam. Ubisoft obviously is very great at a free roam as they have made countless gorgeously detailed games. I just think that a medieval setting for a free roam would be awesome!
All that really makes free roam free roam for me is an area big enough that you do not keep bumping into corners(like the size of a single district in syndicate), and that you can kill enemies that spawn around, not waves, not a permanent combat mini-game, but enemies here and there. Of course more massive and more detailed is always better and if ubisoft could do that it would be wonderful, but not totally necessary.
Thing is, I don't think we a have a say in how the campaign should be, free-roam or scripted. They are already in the making of this game, they cannot and won't change it if it wasn't planned to be a free-roam game from the start. That is not to say it won't be an open world, if it happened to be, I'd like to see rideable horses like in AC and Witcher 3.

This is true, although they do take these suggestions into consideration when they plan a sequel. Horses would be an amazing addition to For Honor 2. =OOriginally Posted by WYRDB0Y Go to original post

I have 2 fears when people talk about sequels though:
- holding back ideas, because there needs to be something left for the sequel
- Assassin's Creeditis, when they start milking a franchise yearly
The upside of both these issues in this case:
Now since this is a new franchise, it didn't yet prove itself even if the hype is (un)real. To me this means they'll do their best to pack in a lot of ideas into the game since there's no guarantee that a sequel will ever be made. Even if it's not gonna be open world, just a well crafted scripted game, it won't be a problem to me, I want this game for the multiplayer anyway.
There used to be a time when I cared about AC, not anymore, but I used to enjoy that game with the first and second installment being outstanding for it's time. If this franchise would happen to get big and for some reason and we'd get For Honor 4 by 2020 with no justifiable upgrades, I'd still think back on this game and the fun I had with it just like I used to enjoy Assassin's Creed.
So in short, because this is a new franchise and because it's a damn good concept (and execution as we can see), I support this game 100%, but can't say that for any sequels for now.
I disagree as I personally really like every ac game, but syndicate. I fee like they change it enough to not feel like they are just milking it. For honor would still be a great game without free roam, but it is 60$ and with just comb at 60$ might not be worth it. Still excited for this game, but some kind of free roam even small would be epic!
Totally agree, and I really hope they don't AC this franchise (if one even comes from this). The last one I played was 4, and the only reason I picked it up was (1) the most fun I had in AC3 was the ship missions and (2) I got to be a pirate. With the announcement of Primal, I'm fearful they're going to do the same with Far Cry.Originally Posted by WYRDB0Y Go to original post
To be honest, I'm pretty tired of open world games. Not planning to get Fallout, didn't get Metal Gear (mostly cause FµcKonami, not because it's open world, but regardless), etc. The last one I got was Witcher 3, and that was only because I really like the books and lore and really liked what little I have played of the other two. I've had more fun playing more 'linear' games than not lately---Wolfenstein, Shadow Warrior, Metro, etc. I also think the Thief remake/reboot would have been infinitely better without the open world aspect.
That's not to say, of course, that For Honor couldn't be a cool open world game, just that I think I'd prefer a more 'linear' experience.
I would suggest that anyone wanting that should look up Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which is basically an open world For Honor, with more attack/defend directions, in first person.
Deliverance sucketh. For honor is ubisoft and I love all of ubisoft open-world. It could be the assassin's creed that people really want. I just want a 3d town, maybe a kingdom that I can roam around and kill some mobs using the art of battle system. I invest hundreds of hours set over years just playing free roam games because I love roaming so much.
