Itīs not about the bike upgrades (unless for example you have a 4/4/4/4 and your opponent 10/10/10/10), but about the line of the track. Race ghosts of top players and you will learn new things. Believe me. I also used to think that it was in the upgrades, sure on some tracks it is, but on 90% of the tracks itīs about the perfect line...
The problem of the showdowns are the tickets in my opinion

Apart from that, try to add as many people as you can to your Ubi friend list. Go to the global leaderboard on your phone and log in to uplay from your computer. You just read the names from your device and quickly add them on your PC. Try adding top ranking guys because they check Uplay more often and they will send you tickets too. This way you have a constant income of tickets, depending on how many friends you have and how oftem you can accept the gifts. (Can only have 3 in pending state until you accept them)
