The game has no tutorial on how to successfully make a good drag run. That would be nice.
What is the right way to heat the tires? Try to hit the tiny green bar or stay under it? Going over goes red for overheat it seems.
Launch is pretty standard...match the green light.
As the car proceeds down the strip, I keep seeing these "bad shift" messages on the screen....but the car shifts automatically so what do you do?
Thanks
It's pretty simple, but I get why you might be confused, I was at first as well
Phase 1: heating tires
Simply rev or let off the rev so the arrow matches the green box by the time the timer is at 0
Phase 2: launch
Simply floor it the moment you get the green light to go
Phase 3: Shifting
You HAVE TO shift in Drag races, there's no automatic shifting to my knowledge
Simply flick up the right stick or your gear up bind when you're in the green box
Note: you can only use your NOS once, and contrary to normal use, tapping NOS once will empty the entire tank, you don't need to hold it![]()
aslo remember that in freemode the drags to have great grip or move normaly should have the tires firstly warmed as in drag
so sometimes if it won't move it's because you overheated the tires or they're cold :S
Yes the tire thing is present even in freemode so keep an eye on the small vertical bar thats narrow to the taco and the end of the screen..
there should be a small line on it that indicates when to quid the warming or burning tyres...
When you see the entire bar green it's alright to move on jumps or whatever...
One thing you guys didn't fix that I listed before and you explicitly said, "thanks for the feedback" is that drag cars cant get anything better than bad shifts when using clutch. You cannot use a clutch for drag racing because you will always get a BAD shift.Originally Posted by Natchai_Ubisoft Go to original post
Thanks for the helps
I drive in automatic transmission mode even though I use a T300 wheel, so I never thought I would need to paddle shift up. I'll watch for it.
The car does over 230 MPH and I can hear it shifting automatically through the gears, but obviously the bad shift message appears.
Must be a built in protection against a blown engine if it is not programmed into the game.
i'm looking for some advice on the tuning of these cars
this is happening to the 2nd drag car of mine today, as i get better and better parts (mostly platinum by now) i lose speed. my current RUF dragster was able to reach ~576km/h (when the car level was around 850), by now it is 980, and i can't go over 558km/h, even if i use NO2 as late as possible (of course giving it enough time/distance before reaching the finish line)
also, before equipping a new, higher level part i always check what effect it has on the car, and even tho i get more and more speed/grip/acceleration according to the tuner page, i feel like my car is getting worse (my Dodge Viper dragster is in the 1200 car lvl region, yet it won't go over 565)
I have noticed that, too.
In a drag racing event, I set my best time when my car still was at around 850 or so. But after i upgraded my car further, i simply could not beat my previous best time again. Even with the same car at level 1299, it is just not possible to beat that time.
But a car at Level 1299 should definitely be better than the same car at a much lower level.
It's tricky but you should keep it in the little green area to have grip at launch.
If you're using a PS4/XBONE controller that has peddle simulators then I advice you to slightly raise the RPM a little bit depending on your car type, with old/new American muscle cars it should be around 2500-3000rpm to have a sweet, clean punch at the start. Just flat it exactly when you get the green light, not before it so you don't ruin your launch.
I had a similar problem but I get higher top speed than before but a fraction slower than before and couldn't beat it. I think the parts need to be all at the same level or near to so you can have a better performance.
It's mostly about when you start the nitrous, still experimenting so I can't give a sharp advice. But I usually hit it at the last gear when the gear settles (rpm and engine sound more stable right after the change).
