    HUD Options Request for Primal

Ubisoft, are you finally going to let go of players' hands with this next instalment, and allow us to turn off all the HUD??

And before you remind me that we could do this in FC4, I'll remind you that it was only to a certain extent. You still insisted on forcing endless button prompts on users.

Yes, the HUD options in FC4 were a very welcome addition to the series, but pleeeease, go the whole hog this time, and allow us to disable button prompts too.

Okay, so you may be of the option that players need hints and guides like button prompts, but many of us don't and we'd really appreciate it if you didn't force them on everyone.

Best HUD ever was in... Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Game.

No weapons, life or character icon, just the wilderness of skull island, your hands and your fellow gun/pointy stick. There was even a button where the character (Driscoll) looked at its ammo and said (30 cartridges left, almost empty, damm five cartridges left...). Primal deserves the same treatment.

Funny enough: Kong was a Ubisoft game and involved a character throwing flaming (or not) spears at prehistoric creatures.

Any game that allows you to disable all HUD is the best. All the Killzone games had the option, as does GTA V.

However, I do like the alternative ammo count feature you describe.

Prince of Persia Trilogy had the best HUD.

Everyone is, of course, entitled to air their opinion about HUDs, but can I just stress that this thread wasn't intended to discuss which games have the 'best' HUD.

To me, 'best' means having the option to disable it altogether - regardless of the game.

I started this thread, not in the hope that Ubisoft would change their HUD, but that they would give us the option to disable ALL the HUD's features, including (and in particular), the button prompts that pop-up every time you interact with something.

If i may i would consider another important factor to avoid distraction: not a full screen map but rather a physical (polygonal) in-game positioning info (see Far Cry 2).

If Ubisoft insist on button prompts, then they should appear for the very first time a player interacts with something, and ONLY for the first time. I don't need to be told what button to press to open a door or enter a vehicle, EVERY time the situation arises.

The worst one in FC4 was the "O to exit" whenever you came to a stop in a vehicle. Why?? I KNOW how to exit! And what if I don't WANT to exit?? What if I've just stopped at a fork in the road and I'm simply deciding which way to go?? I'm the one driving, so let ME decide when I exit the vehicle.

It was the same with the grappling hook. Once I'd used it, I knew that all I had to do was look up at the anchor point at the top of the cliff and press the button to fire the hook, but no, I get the button prompt every time. I wouldn't mind, but they even signpost the areas where you can climb with the red rope dangling down.

I really fail to understand why developers like Ubisoft find it so hard to understand what players mean when they say they want an OPTION to disable the HUD. Many many players when they disable the HUD, don't want ANYTHING popping up on the screen, at ANY time during gameplay.
