In the thread about what the devs learned from the Alpha feedback, there was a revelation that stamina was added in said Alpha, so I think you can rest easy.

I wasn't expecting it, to be honest, but after I read that, I came to the same realisation you did after the fact.

I'm very happy it's there, now, though.
