DeadEnd666: I didn't take the pen & paper to verify your calculations, but it seems they are ok. Although Limbic said AI doesn't cheat, would be nice to have an input on creature's growth. I believe that the only way to see exactly what happens is to play allied with an Heroic AI

Despite all I have to agree with you on this - that in heroes 3 the big challenge was to start all 0. Don't know why I even wait for an AI to really challenge me on H7. I should play multiplayer... but it doesn't work

There are few cases that I want to mention when sometimes I got my *** kicked and they happened with:
    - Heroes 1 on a small map with 4 players in total (AI Genius and I was on Impossible) + the king of the hill option activated. that was a blast, really challenging. Also in H1 AI got creature bonuses so I always tried to get his castle day 1 before he buys the creatures and get + extra creatures. Don't know if you played H1, but I strongly recommend it
    - in heroes 3 on a small map with 7 AI all allied against you - that's also a big challenge
    - on Horn of the Abyss (Russian expansion for Heroes 3) AI also seems smarter. I noticed even pro players get rekt week 1 or week 2 if they were not careful
So usually in previous heroes a good AI could make problems win first 2 weeks. In H7 there's is barely a chance to meet AI in week 1, due to the map design

Please don't fall in the classical negativism that is easy to have. You've been one of the few peoples that have been trying to get the best of H7, to make it better and to give a better feeling to every one reading the forums.

You talk about H1 and H3 ... I was a kid when I first played H1 and played every battle in auto fight. For H3 normal used to be too hard for me and I was unable to finish the campaigns. I eventually played it again latter in a more optimized way but that's way after H4 was out. I played a lot of H4 and when you put neutrals on hardest AIs can't even leave their zone. Appart from that same feeling for each heroes but the 6th : 4th was very buggy when it came out and now I love it, 5th was extremely buggy yet now it's my favorite and 6th ... 6th isn't as buggy as before but still not that great. Anyway that's out of topic.

Players here complain they have no challenge from heroic AIs yet I suspect quite a lot of people there do not how to play (proof is they really think AI can be challenging without cheating/huge resources gap in a heroes game). Heroes is no starcraft and when you play at random on the net you find mostly player that do not play in an optimized (not even remotely) way. And that's ok. Those that criticized only saw AIs behaviour on the adventure map and thought it would dramatically change the challenge they are facing. It does not. Sure the heroe is lower level but he still more creatures than it is possible even without tagging any mine. Mines are irelevant to it. Now sure it would feel better if it LOOKED like AIs is playing better but the complaint here is misinformed (yet soon corrected hopefully).

As a side note it would be great to put all AIs in the same level mode you play by default. It was not done in H6, it is not done here yet I feel many players may be confused by it (I was when I first played on heroic ... against normal AIs)

Who cares if they AI cheats on harder difficulties??? If it needs to cheat to be able to give proper challenge then let it cheat! The real problem however is the horrid AI itself. Killing deadly/high/severe enemies with no losses because the AI is so bad is just ridiculous. AI never leaving their own AoC on heroic is ludicrous. I don't mind if AI learns different play styles instead of the old "rush"-AI of previous games, but all it knows is how to run around mindlessly h7. It doesn't collect most of the stuff, it doesn't tag all of the mines, it just doesn't know what to bloody do. It offers 0 challenge for crying out loud. I'm watching TV and checking my phone while playing because of how easy, simple and boring the game is or rather was since I'm so tired of it already. It requires absolutely no effort or thinking compared to ANY of the previous games. Heck even the browser game Heroes Online offered way more challenging and interesting experience than h7 currently gives. AI should be top priority to game like this. What h7 currently has should be the game on "easy"-type AI, doing stupid idiotic things, now all we are missing are "normal", "hard" and "heroic" -type AIs

No I'm not getting negative here, but I just realized that I expect too much. I'm playing heroes for the past 20 years, even participating for 5 years in developping a Heroes game clone for iOS - just search google for palm kingdoms. My job was to search for bugs, get exploints and such. Usually I could break a game very fast and find ways to trick AI. So, really at some point you get a challenge only by playing a very good human player. The problem with this is that I'm job oriented now and don't have time to play competitions, also I'm not anymore in the game industry now. But after 20 years I can't help it to leave this game alone and lose hope, so i play... And it's realistic that for now it's very hard to encounter an AI to really challenge me. So I'll set my expectations a little bit lower, not to be dissapointed, because it is what it is... They are doing what they can

The AI in this game have been stupid from the first time I played Heroes 7. They are often sending a bunch of level 1 heroes with no army, if you beat them the first time. If you're in a fight and use fire wall, it takes any mob 5 rounds to get out of it, and they will litterary run out of it and in again. Most levels have been easy, no matter what. There was one level where the enemy would just rebuy their hero after I beat it the day before, and come down again, within 2 days. Then there would be like 10 empty heroes all over, but still managing to steal a lot of time and making it all take extra long.

The only problem I ever had with fighting the AI was one that had around the same army size as me, but had very strong spells. So basically the hero would come in, destroy most of my army, even if I won, then return later on to do the same again. Obviously winning over that hero one time would help me building it up again, but man she took so much with chain lighting.
